If you read feminist theory, it has always had a tinge of misandry, even if it doesn't outright state it, sometimes--many other times it does. Read some of the popular 2nd wave feminist books. They're teeming with venom and self-superiority.
But who is doing the oppressing of women? Who is the one holding women down? Why do women need empowerment? Because of men. Because of the patriarchy.
Some fundamental beliefs of feminism is that men have oppressed women for thousands of years, that marriage was slavery and oppression, that the "patriarchy" created society in such a way so as to benefit men at the expense of women [all objectively false].
These were the origins of feminist belief. Tell me. What picture does this paint of men? On the same hand, what picture does this paint of women? The only group to remain oppressed for thousands of years, without a whimper? Until the past 100 years?
These feminist beliefs call women weak, dumb, submissive flowers who must be protected and taught, because they're so stupid and easily controlled [shut up woman, let me tell you why you need feminism]; and, these beliefs very much call men naturally evil oppressors.
Feminism has always called or suggested men are "the enemy". Even if it didn't state it outright.
Misandry is the natural progression of these beliefs. It's not that feminism got a bad name because of misandrists. It's that feminism got a bad name, because it creates misandry based on its horrible view on both men and women.

I think feminism got a bad name when women were granted equal rights and privileges but not equal responsibility for those, rights and privileges. This was from the very start.
I have no problem with women having equal rights and privileges so long as their willing to have equal responsibility. That’s yet to happen.
Feminism also got a bad name when women sought to have more privileges and rights than men. This also was the intent from the start.
So feminism always had a bad name.
I do not distinguish between 3rd wave and 1st wave feminism or whatever. The intent was the same from the start. It was never about equality.
Well, yes, that's one reason. It's also because what "feminists" nowadays claim to stand for. They claim to support women, yet support abortion and condemn pro-life or conservative women. They hail women like Madeleine Albright, who is noted for saying there's a special place in hell for women who don't support each other, in reference to those who didn't support Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. Sometimes feminists can be reasonable people, but more often than not, they blindly follow the lies that the feminist movement feeds people today: that women are weak, vulnerable, made victims by the patriarchy, and that only through feminism can they ever hope to free themselves from the oppression they are always to be under. Honestly, feminism is a more oppressive moment than any fictitious "patriarchy" in modern Western countries, since if you condemn modern feminism to a feminist, you're far more likely to get screamed at and called a bigot than anything else.
I used to label myself a feminist before I realized how bullshit, and frankly, stupid this western world sees "equality".
Seriously ladies - young girls in other nations are married off at the age of 7, while boys are not. Young girls in other nations aren't allowed to leave the house, while boys are. Young girls in other nations aren't allowed to be educated - because their entire future has been determined for them, and they are to live for and serve the men in their lives. People in the east and west of this world still sexualize virginity, putting an emphasis on intact hymens, and some women are hurt or neglected if they dont meet that requirement. Women in india are outcasted if they become widows. Women in the middle east are victims of acid attacks if they reject a man for marriage. This is what I thought our goal was as feminists. Not "free the nipple" or complaining about mansplaining.

"My opinion is that many of the so called feminists nowadays are actually misandrists and they use feminism to justify their behaviour. Feminism was originally about empowering women, not about hating on men."
You sure that it is only nowadays? And that original feminists were not about hating men, but about empowering women?
Let's hear influental feminists of the past out then:
“I feel that ‘man-hating’ is an honourable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them.” ~Robin Morgan
“I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig.” ~Andrea Dworkin
“Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear” ~Susan Brownmiller
“The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.” ~Sally Miller Gearhart
"I believe that women have a capacity for understanding and compassion which a man structurally does not have, does not have it because he cannot have it. He’s just incapable of it.” ~Barbara Jordan
“Compare victims’ reports of rape with women’s reports of sex. They look a lot alike….[T]he major distinction between intercourse (normal) and rape (abnormal) is that the normal happens so often that one cannot get anyone to see anything wrong with it.” ~Catherine MacKinnon
"As far as I’m concerned, men are the product of a damanged gene." ~Germaine Greer
“The nuclear family must be destroyed, and people must find better ways of living together…. Whatever its ultimate meaning, the break-up of families now is an objectively revolutionary process…. No woman should have to deny herself any opportunities because of her special responsibilities to her children… Families will be finally destroyed only when a revolutionary social and economic organization permits people’s needs for love and security to be met in ways that do not impose divisions of labor, or any external roles, at all.”
~Linda Gordon
“Men’s sexuality is mean and violent, and men so powerful that they can ‘reach WITHIN women to fuck/construct us from the inside out.’ Satan-like, men possess women, making their wicked fantasies and desires women’s own. A woman who has sex with a man, therefore, does so against her will, ‘even if she does not feel forced.’
~Judith LevineNo. I think feminism got a bad name because sexism is deeply rooted into our cultural psyche and both men and women are uncomfortable with the level of dismantling power that we fight for. People have hated feminism since the first feminist acts. Its comical when todays anti-feminists think they're special. Same noise, different era. People in general are quite ignorant, along with the fact that they fear the shift in power. Like any other suggestion of changing power (racism, classism/capitalism), it scares the absolute fuck out of people and opposition has very little to do with any minority who actually hate men.
Look at all the mist beloved systems that actively destroy peoples lives an encourage hate and oppression - racism, military state/imperialism, religion, etc. These are beloved and respected and have encouraged and accomplished far more destruction and hatefulness than any random feminist who hates men. Even the feminist who hates men has far better intentions, yet she won't accomplish nearly as much influence nearly as easily. So you can see that being opposed to something (here, feminism) doesn't automatically mean there's any significant, objective basis for that opposition. We have to further analyze to prove that, and this requires a lot more intellectual work.
This is actually how power works in practice. The most effective level of power are systems that maintain themselves. They require and rely on people defending those systems on every level, having internalized the desired and exemplified paradigm since childhood and enacting it on a subconscious level. Power that doesn't accomplish that would be too easy to unravel and therefore ineffective. This is all just power doing what its supposed to do, just like every other expression of power. Feminists know this and are unfazed. We just keep fighting from generation to generation, chipping away at whatever we can because the fight is important to us. But let's be absolutely clear - we have always been hated. This is literally nothing at all new.The following is why feminism has a bad name
I feel that ‘man-hating’ is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them. Robin Morgan, Ms. Magazine Editor
The nuclear family must be destroyed… Whatever its ultimate meaning, the break-up of families now is an objectively revolutionary process. Linda Gordon
I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig. Andrea Dworkin
Since marriage constitutes slavery for women, it is clear that the women’s movement must concentrate on attacking this institution. Freedom for women cannot be won without the abolition of marriage. Sheila Cronin, the leader of the feminist organization NOW
Marriage as an institution developed from rape as a practice. Andrea Dworkin
The institution of sexual intercourse is anti-feminist. Ti-Grace Atkinson
Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear. Susan Brownmiller, Against Our Will p.6
When a woman reaches ****** with a man she is only collaborating with the patriarchal system, eroticizing her own oppression. Sheila Jeffrys
Politically, I call it rape whenever a woman has sex and feels violated. Catherine MacKinnon
The more famous and powerful I get the more power I have to hurt men. Sharon Stone
Ninety-five percent of women’s experiences are about being a victim. Or about being an underdog, or having to survive… women didn’t go to Vietnam and blow things up. They are not Rambo. Jodie Foster, quoted in The New York Times Magazine
The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race. Sally Miller Gearhart, in The Future – If There Is One – Is Female
And if the professional rapist is to be separated from the average dominant heterosexual (male), it may be mainly a quantitative difference. Susan Griffin, Rape: The All-American Crime
If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males. Mary Daly
If anyone is prosecuted for filing a false report, then victims of real attacks will be less likely to report them. David Angier
Men who are unjustly accused of rape can sometimes gain from the experience. Catherine CominsFeminism got a bad name because of far-right propaganda that has been throwing mud at this movement now for years. I constantly see people online cry about evil, men-hating feminists. In reality, these men-haters are a tiny, insignificant minority. I am a feminist myself and I know plenty of people in real life (men and women) who call themselves feminists and not a single one of them hates men. They are all very kind, peaceful and conciliable people.
Unfortunately however, the far-right has a well-oiled propaganda machine that has brainwashed people into believing all kinds of idiotic bullshit. It the same with refugees for instance. Everyone these days has an opinion on refugees and most of these opinions are very hostile. Supposedly, refugees are violent criminals who refuse to adapt and don't speak a single word of the local language. Interestingly enough, most regular people have never met a single refugee in their entire life, let alone made the effort to properly get to know one.I'm actually scared to call myself a 'feminist' because people then automatically label me as man-hating selfish bitch. Feminism as an ideology is something all can support but I agree there are some women out there who are crazy, man-hating.. they penalize men for things they did ages ago. BUT there are also people who hate feminists who are genuinely doing good for the women in our world, and generalize them into the FEMINAZI category because they cannot handle the fact that they speak up and do not take shit from anyone.
Feminism is exactly what it is represented as by the feminazis, radical feminists, misandrists, man-haters, liberals, and etc. Feminism is a mental illness that seems to be spreading like an airborne cancerous-virus broadcasted through the media and implemented by unknowing ignorant useful-idiot underling women. The ease of life in this automated world allows too much free time for the wandering libtard-feminist mind and it mutates into these bizarre ideals that have no foundation and no realistic endgame. Artificial female superiority enforced by the government breeds tremendous contempt with future grave consequences.
WAGE GAP MAY EXIST CUZ CALIBER GAP EXIST
Man are usually man enough to understand the problem and try to work on it by working hard (for normal people) and multitasking (to take advantage of their higher IQ).
Woman on the other hand have inherent (Biological) problem of not accepting the fault but they try to make it as society fault that don't pay them equally.
I am not female hater but NOBODY WILL PAY YOU EQUAL FOR ONLY QUARTER OF OUTPUT (work performed on day) and EVERYONE WILL PICK A HUMAN THAT WILL DO DOUBLE IN SAME PRICE without drama of continues sexual harassment and even FORCING OLDER WORKERS TO LEAVE.
If someone hire you work, HE HIRED YOU work not attack the male staff 24/7.No, feminist got a bad name because in order to be a feminist you have to be a misandrist. Their is literally no other way to be a feminist. You cannot say men raped and beat and enslaved and oppressed women for all of history (provably false by the way as is every claim I've ever heard a feminist make (and they make a LOT of claims)) and then claim that you don't hate men. If your a feminist, you despise men and that's just what it is. that's why they keep attacking men destroying their lives oppressing them and lobbing for ever more rights for women (who already have all the rights) and fewer rights for men (who are fast losing any semblance of human rights).
I used to agree totally with you, but then I realized how perfectly things were built before feminism. I do think that some of the causes feminists have taken up we’re okay, but we didn’t need feminism for that. The pilgrims wrote law that said rape was punishable by death. Overall I wish the feminist movement hadn’t existed to begin with. I think that makes me a card carrying member of “the patriarchy” but, whatever. I also don’t think that the government should have enough influence for this to matter at all. We should’ve kept it local. Then you could leave the bullshit behind you.
No, I think pushing false information as fact and limiting the value of other people's opinions is what gave feminism a bad name. The wage gap is a myth that was debunked immediately and yet people still bring it up in conversation. The pink tax is possibly the most idiotic concept ever to exist, beaten only perhaps by the flat earth theory. Manspreading, mansplaining, false rape and sexual abuse statistics... all of these things is what has given feminism a bad name.
The sad thing is that for a while it was just feminazis who were to blame and for the most part, people were willing to accept that they didn't represent feminism but now, i mean very level-headed feminists who still spew out all this bogus information and then say that because I'm a man I can't have an opinion, even if what I'm trying to say isn't actually an opinion but rather a fact.First and second-wave feminism were legit (though I'm sure there were a handful of crazies in the mix too), but like much in the 60s, the feminist movement got co-opted by Soviet agents (and US sympathizers) who were looking to undermine the US by destroying the family unit, and did so by subversion - teaching women that "men are evil" and that all their problems were because of men.
This might sound insane if you don't know a lot about the Cold War, but there have been at least 3 high-level former-KGB defectors who have discussed this specifically. They note that the KGB only dedicated 15% of their budget towards spying - 85% was spent on subversion, which was seen as a far more powerful way for them to negatively impact the US.
Needless to say, they also heavily infiltrated the education system, particularly in college, where much of 3rd Wave Feminism and Red Stockings come from.Maybe, but I don't think so.
I'm of the "actions speak louder than words" camp. No matter how much you try to dance around it, the truth is simple: no prominent feminist or feminist organization has ever fought for men's rights or women's responsibilities, ever. Yet, they claim to be about equality. Well, true equality is about equal rights and equal responsibilities. As far as feminists are concerned, equality is about women's rights and men's responsibilities. Until they demonstrate an understanding of that and commit to amending their ways, they'll always be selfish, man-hating hypocrites as far as I'm concerned. Fortunately, I'm not alone.Try starting a social revolution by calling yourself a "misandrist" and see how far that gets. It doesn't even sound appealing before knowing what it actually means.
Yes, the vast majority of the SJWs campaigning as a "feminist" are doing more harm than good in the name of rights, and their actions are probably going to permanently taint the word "feminism."
It isn't about equality anymore- that's been the norm at least in the United States for quite some time. Now it's just about special treatment, and dividing/weakening the population through unrest.Well, I have no problem with a girl saying to other girls, "Girls we can fucking do this. Lets do it" as long as what they're doing isn't like.. hating on men or illegal shit of course. But encouraging women to be good people or something like that, I don't mind at all. And honestly, yeah. I didn't know about that word until now, I rather start using that word because bitches like Anita Sarkeesian don't even deserve to be a part of the group that paved the way for Women's rights 50 years ago. I rather start loving real feminists like Christina Hoff Summers. I respect and admire that woman.
There is no law who gets to call themselves a feminist.
My main issue is that modern feminism as a whole tends to disregard men (unless it suits their own agenda, like gender roles), while simultaneously insisting they're all about equality.
I don't buy it!Feminism got a bad name due to corruption within its own movement that feminist themselves went along with and didn't try fighting against. If feminists would speak up and out against misandrists in their movement and loudly maybe feminism could have saved itself. Though all I see is feminists calling men misogynists for disagreeing with misandrists on some things or for calling themselves egalitarians over feminists.
Feminism is basically misandrism in many cases now a days but they can't call their movement misandrism because then they'll lose all their government funding and whatever platform they have for speaking,I agree with you on that part. I find it very hard to get behind the feminist movement and the idea's they push because when I look at the organization I see a lot of people acting as misandrists towards others.
I'd personally like to live in a world where there is a level of fairness between both men and woman. Where the problems on both sides of the playing field are addressed and taken care of rather then one side being dominant in the game.
Which is mainly why I follow egalitarianism. Not feminism.Except the problem is that those misandrists are today's feminists.
They're the one leading the movement, saying what it should do, against who, where to go, what to say...
They're the one in charge. Feminism didn't get a bad name because of them. They changed it to be what they wanted to. The other feminists are like old veterans remembering what it was in their time, back then. Which it's not today.
If you want to give it a good name, well take over it and boot those bitches out. I've heard they're not real feminists, they're just a minority. Well then where are the others? The "true" feminists? What are they waiting for to clean feminism from them?
That is, if there are feminists wanting to clean the movement, and who don't agree with the hysterical bitches. Because for now, the later are pretty free to do whatever they want and no one tries to stop them.Yes, and I've mentioned this so many times before. The only true forms of Feminism were the First, and Second Wave.
Third-Wave "Feminism" is basically a group of jealous white women who want to cherry-pick what rights they want. It's a complete joke, and even many women make fun of it.Absolutely. But I think their hatred of men stems from a place of self hatred. They dont feel pretty, skinny or smart enough for society's high standards and instead of working through their feelings and rejecting that standard they get angry and blame others for their inner turmoil
