Because most often when we say we aren't, no one cares or they tell us to get over it. Or worse they say it's our fault.

I say it when I don't want to talk about it. If it's my family asking; I'll say "I'm fine" because I don't want to worry them. Over half the time, I'm dying for someone to talk to in those instances.

Many reasons. The reason I would say "Im fine" could vary but most likely I would be saying "Im fine" because I dont think the other person will care or understand

Probably because they either don't feel like unburdening their problems on someone else, or figure other people aren't actually interested.
