Why do people drive bad & too fast in the street? one last cursed at me while driving?

So I take my driving test this week. I have my permit and drive daily 5-10 min to the stores do errands. I was driving normal speed not too slow not too fast. The yellow light turned on all of a sudden so I slowed down, I was bit too close to the street light however I still slowed down to quickly stop. However I wasn’t driving so fast that I was able to pass the yellow light. My dad said to only do that if u are in the middle of the street and light turns yellow all of a sudden. So one older fat lady behind me goes to the lane next to me to curse and yell at me saying who the fuck showed me how to drive. She had face of a monster. Then light was green and cut in front of me driving really fast. I was like really? Maybe she don’t know how to drive. I notice most people drive too fast & not inpatient one bit. My dad drives good and not fast and he says everyone cuts him daily, many r so close behind you to pressure u to go faster.

People are in such a hurry now days then they used to be. I dont understand why or for what? Maybe people are so lazy now that they dont actually plan ahead and give themselves enough time to get to places on time. I get cut off all the time and people trying to intimidate me to go faster. I drive a company truck for a living and it is wrapped with my company logo. So I am not speeding, using my signals and doing everything to represent my company in a good way with my driving. I do this even when in my personal vehicle. If I'm being tail gated and pressured, bullied or intimidated to go faster especially on the high eau I let off the gas and start coasting slowing down. I will not be bullied anymore.

I think people just get too impatient and judgy at others. They have a view on how others should drive and accept all others to follow it, giving people "punishments" aka honking, yelling, and riding their brakes to teach lessons... I've found it's best to pull over and just let those people drive by

Those are unhappy, angry people. Just be happy that you aren't one of them. If someone is tailgating and you can let them pass, do so. If traffic is too heavy for you to change lanes, just lift (off the accelerator) and make them go around you.

So I’m supposed to pass the yellow light? I wasn’t going so fast that I was speeding and pass the yellow light. I was driving normally and then light turned yellow and began quickly slow down and stop. I didn’t kinda stop fast but I slowed down fast first. The car was kinda tailgating me whole time

No, you weren't. If you are able to stop safely short of the intersection under normal braking, then you should stop. If the moron behind you rear-ends you, its their fault for following too closely. OTOH if you see someone bearing down on you, best to continue. It's better to avoid a collision whenever possible to protect your self.

Just think of it as a video game like Grand Theft Auto. Lots of people aren't themselves behind the wheel. You shouldn't take anything they say or do personally, because you're experiencing the worst side of them.

I think you need to drive faster and harder though. Become a more aggressive driver. Then it doesn't bother you as much if people give you crap. You are just as important as everyone else on the road. At least even if you aren't, no one else knows that, so it is okay to be a bit forceful, aggressive. And if someone gives you a lot of crap, stop your car and go up to them with a tire iron.

You need to think less about driving and more about life in general. You sound shy and gentle in my opinion and afraid to start conflicts. You can't be that way if you live in a busy city and drive all the time. You gotta assert yourself.

I’m not shy I used to drive fast and agressive but I Calmed down as it’s very dangerous drive that way

Danger is fun. You just flip off the person who curse at you. Well, I lived in LA for such a long time. It became a prerequisite in my opinion to become hyper-aggressive on the road.

Lots of bad drivers out there. Some are screwing around with heir phones, some are putting on makeup, some are just idiot. I used to drive a lot for my job and I used to see al kinds of things out there. Just try to anticipate bad behavior
