What is something you simultaneously love and hate about yourself?

Hate is a strong word, but I have always been insecure about my uneven eyelids. Seeing idols, like Kim Taehyung and Im Yoonah, having people call their uneven eyelids charm points has made me appreciate my eyelids more, but I still feel insecure about them sometimes. Is there anything about yourself that you love and hate?

I seem to largely lack the capability to feel any powerful kind of fear. I might have even damaged my amygdala as a boy (I was hit by cars twice and hospitalized both times at a very young age).

That has been a very useful trait in some dangerous situations in allowing me to be most noble, rescuing others from danger and guiding them to safety while being perfectly calm and maybe even enjoying the moment. Yet those situations are very rare and few and far between. I love the trait in those cases though when I can use it to help people.

Unfortunately, it also tempts me to do a lot of stupid, dangerous, outright reckless things that normal people -- far more capable of experiencing fear -- would not do out of fear. I don't have that sort of fear to discourage me from doing reckless things. I have to rely on wisdom instead, and I'm very slow to get wise.

So I have a love/hate relationship with the way I'm so lacking in fear. It sometimes works to bring out the noblest and most heroic side of me. Yet far more often it brings out a very stupid and reckless side doing pointless daredevil stunts just for the fun of it.

As a point of clarification, I'm not brave. Brave people feel fear to my understanding but overcome it, and that's far superior. I'm just lacking in fear. A brave person can use their fear to keep themselves out of harm's way while overcoming the fear to do heroic things. Meanwhile, I don't even have the fear in the first place to keep me out of harm's way, and so I constantly find myself in harm's way.

I still think it is amazing that you use your inability to feel fear in order to help people. You don’t have to do that, but you still do. ☺️
Do you think that maybe you continue to do these daredevil stunts in an unconscious attempt to be able to feel fear?

One thing I'm not clear about is if I don't feel fear at all or if I'm addicted to fear like maybe being afraid of something makes me want to do it more (the opposite of sane people). It's kind of confusing to me that way because I get the adrenaline rush when I do things like performing on stage in front of many people or something dangerous, but I love that feeling and I find it encouraging rather than discouraging. I've just kind on noticed looking at other people and making comparisons that I seem to experience this in a very different way.

It gets me into a lot of trouble though. For example, I have many teeth and claw scars from trying to befriend vicious animals like dogs growing at me as well as trying to tame wild animals. I've also been mugged and pickpocketed so many times that my bank refused to let me get a new credit card after having to cancel mine so many times due to my wallet being stolen. So I had to apply at a whole new bank.

I think I'm also motivated more by the risk of punishment than the chance of a reward. For example, the first time I got bitten trying to hug a vicious dog in my neighborhood as a little boy, I was hospitalized and had to get stitches on my face. So I think a sane kid after that thinks he should stop trying to hug growling dogs. Yet that just made me want to hug them even more because I hated being bitten so much, now understanding that there's a significant risk of getting hurt, that I wanted to try again. Now that I knew how bad it could hurt if I fail to tame the dog, it made it so much more exciting to try.

I love how tall I am but hate how it's next to impossible to find clothes that fit, especially shoes and socks, and how nothing in the world is made to accommodate me, anymore! The house I was brought up in was built 122 years ago and had 10' high ceilings. I could barely touch them even if I stood on my toes. Back then, nobody grew much beyond 5' tall!! The house I'm in now was built in 1962 when lots of people were breaking the 6' barrier and I can practically touch the ceilings with my head!! They're only 7' high! Back in the `40's, a new car was so big you could play baseball in just the back seat and still have room for a small tennis court! They had their own streams, trees, wildlife roaming around. Today, cars are so tiny I have to have the jaws of life just to get INTO one!!
So, for those aspects, I HATE being tall!! Hitting my head on shit all the time doesn't help, either.

I guess that's because not a lot of us tall guys are drummers. The only ones I know of are Bill Bruford and Mick Fleetwood. I don't know how tall Mick is but Bill is every bit as tall as me. (6' 9") So was Chris Squire. I've met both of them.

Yeah, I met Bill at least twice. The second time we were in a room where the ceiling was so low, both of our heads were about an inch away from it. And, I met Chris once a few months, possibly a year or two, before he died. It was shortly before he was about to go on stage for an afternoon gig and, as I was leaving the venue, a car went by me with Steve Howe slouching way down in the back seat trying not to be seen and we both saw each other. I've met LOTS of famous people.

I guess you just have to know where to hang out and wait for them or just be in the right place at the right time. I went to see Steven Wright one night and, after the show, I was on my way to my bus home and I spotted him and his opening act in a bar half a block from, where he did the show. I just went in to do a quick meet and autograph and they both invited me to sit and hang with them for a while! I probably stayed for half an hour.

tbh having unsymmetrical eyelids isn't even that noticeable (i don't think it is at least). i have slightlyyy different eyelids myself, but it actually took me many years before i even noticed LOL. and it's not really something that catches my attention whenever i look into the mirror either.

but anyways, for me personally, i both love and hate my hair. it's pretty straight at the top, and then gradually gets curlier and curlier until it's in a curl at the very very bottom of it. i think it looks a lot like "doll hair", but it looks kind of shitty at the same time. so yeah, i have a very strong love-hate relationship with it. for the most part, i wish my hair was a bit different but eh. it doens't bother me thaaat much.

tyy <333 it depends, if i sleep in a loose braid then it's not too difficult to brush the next day. however if i forget, then i need to use a lot of hairspray to untangle it because otherwise it's practically impossible lol. but for me, brushing is the only problem i have with it, everything else is fine.

there's this one light blue hairspray that my mom always uses, supposedly it's relatively expensive but it's efficient. you probably just didn't get a very good brand (not sure though, just a guess). Also yeah, that's the hairbrush that i used throughout my entire life lol. is that considered one of the best brands or something?

I rarely put hairspray in my hair. the only time I get hairspray is when I am getting my hair curled. I don't know what brand they use though. I don't know. All I know is that it gets my tangles out so easily.

Hmmm I don’t know. I know it is wavy if I let it air dry, and when I was little and had short hair it was curly, like big curls at the bottom. My hair is very long and straight with a few wavy strands throughout it. It’s hard to explain. Lol

I simultaneously love and hate that I'm so resilient and tough and had to be put through so much sh*t to become hard and cold on the inside. Honestly, I would have rather had a life of love and been a bit cushier than to be the cold, solid slab of unloved concrete that I am right now. I guess you can say I hate it a bit more than I "love" it. But some people might say it's good being stoic and resilient from having been treated like sh*t through my entire life. The downside of that though (among many other things) is being cynical and pretty sure I'll never be loved.

Also, I don't get why some Asians don't like the "Asian eyes" (double eyelids). Even here in South Korea, they have "Western eye" cosmetic surgery. Those women are all kinds of 머리에 미친!

When with the person it feels brilliant though and gets you wrapped in that fantasy. Often or not this always ends up been on someone who will friendzone me or something which then only leads to a very low state for myself. Extreme lows and extreme highs which the highs been great.
