I bought my last house in 2009 after the bubble burst. I did get a good price on it but the market did not exactly drop. It is hard to say where house prices will end up because there was so much demand and the supply was limited. Housing starts are way down now so the shortage will not end any time soon. What we are more certain of is interest rates will rise significantly over the next year.

To me it doesn't matter. I already own a house so if I move I would just get another of similar value. And since its basically the same market everywhere it sort of circumvents the arbitrary value assigned to houses and effectively just trades them.

I want to save at least two million to buy a house and maybe three or four million and I want to pay it off in less than 5 years after obtaining the property.

it is best to pay cash you have better bargaining power with that why make a bank rich on interest if you have cash for it

I'm not going to buy a house anytime soon. I'm not sure if I will decide to leave CA or not in the next two years so for that reason I wasn't going to buy one now regardless. I do think prices will come down a lot in the next couple years too.
