You're right, but I have no idea why.

It's because someone is playing around with our fake reality, fiddling with the time settings.

I don't really care one way or the other, but at least this isn't another question about dick size.

Time isn't speeding up, but your mind perceives it as if it is. There's apparently a few reasons.

1. Relativity:

If you were 6 years old and thinking about how long three years is, you'd be thinking "3 years is half of my entire life!" and you'd think 3 years is very long. And 1 year to a six year old is one-sixth of their life, a pretty solid chunk. But for you, 1 year of your life relative to your 25 years of living is not that long. So the younger you are, the more significant small amounts of time feels.

2. Novelty, or lack of:

Whenever you have a novel (new) experience, your brain fires off many neurons to kind of soak in the experience to record as much detail and information as possible. But as you age, you might be technically experiencing something "new" every day, your walk to work might be surrounded by "new" people, but it's insignificant, the walk is more or less the same walk you've taken numerous time before. And as you age, you get more experience, and the more experience you have, the less things there are for you to experience for the first time. But when you're younger, when time didn't feel like it was going so fast, your young brain was experiencing things for the first time constantly.

^Funnily enough, this neuron-firing also applies to when you're scared or terrified, like if someone with arachnophobia was stuck in a room with a big spider on the wall. Buuut I doubt you'd want to experience that just to slow down time. 😂

3. You're busy:

You're comparatively more busy, especially with things that require more serious thought and attention. An example I could use is you partaking in your favorite hobby and watching water boil. Which one goes faster?

4. Poor time estimation:

As you age, the rate at which your brain fires neurons decreases, and in some ways this works as an internal clock. There have been tests to see how well young people can accurately guess when a minute has passed compared to how well older people can. And it turns out that young people are much more accurate than older people.

Holy hell, I just found THIS. I knew something was up because everyone is saying the same thing.

The Earth's rotation is the fastest it's ever been in 50 years, which means time is passing by quicker than it has in the past five decades.

So the idea that time is just a human construct and doesn't exist in the universe, is false.

Ah yes, it makes sense. The moon is slowly moving further away from us, and due to the conservation of angular momentum principle, this is having the effect of slowing down the Earth's rotation.

The Forbes article says it may be speeding up again. They attribute it to the "melting of the glaciers", but even if the glaciers are melting (and every other icy region, like the Arctic, is as well), so what? That ice isn't disappearing; it's turning into liquid water, but the total sum of all there is will of course remain the same (conservation of mass principle), so it should have no effect on anything.

I totally buy that it's speeding up and making time seem to go by faster, but I don't buy the glacier thing either. Glaciers have nothing to do with the earth's rotation.
