I'm calm 99% of the time but when I get angry, I get EXTREMELY angry and it lasts for hours before I can start to calm down. I hate feeling this way so I was wondering do you have any tips on how to not get angry or at least how to not stay angry for a long time?
I go for a long walk and process things, getting it out of my system within my own head as I walk, until I reach a sense calm.
If it’s really bad, I may need to do something hard exercise like lifting weights or striking a punching bag at the gym to get all my aggression out of my system.
Time, processing things, and different kinds of exercise usually help.
Another thing is long showers, closing my eyes and trying to relax.
If you’re spiritual, taking some time to pray or meditate can help a lot too, with the focus being to let go of all that troubles you. To let go and release all that negative energy from your body.
If you’re not spiritual, breathing exercises can help too. Deep breathing. Closing your eyes. Focusing on nothing else but your breathing and counting. Doing this for 20+ minutes can really help chill you out. I know that sounds long but, the longer you go the more potent the relaxation is. Just put your phone in airplane mode, set an alarm, close your eyes, and just breathe.
