This is the 10th and final question in the series on Cities of the World, at least for now. The series may resume in the future. Each question contains several things about a city and the goal is to guess what city that is. Unlike the country questions, there is no starting letter hint.

Hint: The city may or may not be one of the cities in the picture.

Things about this city:

* This city is its country's capital, though some (ex: Australia) think it isn't

* The city was founded about 1000 BCE

* The city has been conquered more than 40 times in its history

Ok, the first fact gave the correct answer away, as anyone watching the news knows that Australia has recently stopped recognizing (West) Jerusalem as Israel's capital

A separate question about it appeared on the forum this morning. I didn't know about it until then. I wonder what good it does for a country to "not recognize" another country's choice of capital city. Is it the equivalent of telling that country you're dead to me? That'll show 'em?

@SaoirseS it is just one more of those quintessential politic statements/questions/topics that are politically dividing and thrown around by politicians... lol

one of the quickest ways to find out who is with you and against you... which is probably a thing in Australia right now as well as many other countries going through a phase of politics turning into populism... or, wanting to turn their multiparty systems onto a Right vs Left system instead
