If someone asked you to lie for them or be their alibi.. would you do that?

Generally I wouldn't! Especially with some serious stuff, like a cover up for a crime or something. I ain't going to jail for someone else smh

But my cousin called me, I met her just last year after my father passed away.
She called and asked if it's okay if she lies to her husband that she is staying with me for the weekend but in reality she is running away to a hotel to clear her head, cause he is cheating on her again.
She said she just needs space, without him calling her all the time and threatening to kill himself if she goes... I said yes, cause that one I can definitely understand lol

Most likely I would. I am a very honest and genuine person, and I have learned my lesson over the years that being honest is not always a good idea. It’s how you go about it. And people who act all high and mighty about being honest are sus for having the potential to be the biggest liars/deceivers. Especially those who don’t “technically” lie, but manage to avoid the truth. It has been shocking to me how much people lie, I’m very trusting. But slowly I learn. I’m not going to help one person hurt another with lies, but I would certainly help my friend for example being a reference for a job application and saying they worked for me or that I worked for them and they were great, &c.

To ask someone to lie for you, in my opinion, is clearly wrong and borderline ignorant. Does one not realize what one is conveying to either the spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, friend, and/or family member?
I will do anything to avoid blame, I never err, and can never be trusted to be speaking the truth at anytime on any topic.
The Ends does not justify the Means. If one does this in a Courtroom and is not an Elite then he/she goes to jail. Such a request forces me to to slowly and carefully back out of this relationship. Who KNOWS what you will do to me if I “ghost and block”…

For family or friends, I would. I am not a good liar when it comes to covering for myself, but when it comes to covering for others, I can be persuasive.
I do not excuse myself for lying to cover for myself, but I am able to excuse myself for lying to cover others.
There are not many things I wouldn't do for people I consider my family.
Of course extreme situations such as rape or sexual assault or anything of such sorts is excluded in that scenario, but I guess the question is not aimed at something like that.

Well yeah in the situation you described of COURSE I would help my friend, if she needs time to think about what to do about an emotionally manipulative cheater!
But Alibi is basically a legal term that indicates they could not have committed the crime because you vouch for them being at YOUR home during the time the commission of the crime allegedly took place! Would I do THAT? Hell NO!

NO! Absolutely not in this life, a past life, or a future life. A friend that would ask this of another friend is NOT a true friend. The cousin needs to be upfront and honest with her cheating husband. When a person starts this they are in actuality starting down a slippery slope they can never recover from. Under no circumstances is a lie ever justified. What this cousin needs to do is get tested for STDs and give that cheating husband a choice. Me or her. Then I would still divorce his ass and clean his clock! I'm wording this very strongly because I am telling everybody reading this that a lie will beget more lies. Don't go down that path. There is no such thing as a "little white lie" or a lie to allow someone to make an easy or painful choice. Give this some serious thought before doing this 100% dishonest thing!

It depends on what the situation was to be fully frank.
When a former classmate from groundschool/elementary school murdered another classmate I even got the question to hide his body, ofcourse I turned him down and calmly told him that he would get caught, this is a few years ago the murder took place.
Reason my other classmate got killed? Drug debt and he did never forgive his bullies from school, I have never used any illegal substance, I was too bullied, but I did as Jesus/Jehova and turned my other cheek and personally forgave everyone and also said for whatever I might have done myself I genuimely was sorry for that.
What I earned by doing what I did? Deep respect even from some of the worst bullies and apparently my life since I am still alive.

Probably not, but I also have no issues saying "None of your business" if people ask questions... in your case I wouldn't lie if her husband called me to see if she was staying with me, I'd just say... None of your business.

So it always depends on whom and what but short answer yes. Plus you'll find ya don't get in much trouble anyway if one day you decide to admit you lied.
Because they care more about shutting the case than the innocent who lied thinking they were doing the wrong thing.

Secrets always come out, if he is cheating and she needs to be alone for a while she needs to tell him and tell him why she is doing it. It is a tricky situation, you need to take care of family, but when it comes out you will be drug into the middle of the drama between her and him.
