Is an older man already has kids (all adults) and grandkids, will he likely be with older women?

Our supervisor is in his early 50's. His current girlfriend is 42 years old.

He doesn't want anymore kids. He's ok with a mature life companion. All his 3 kids (from his ex wife) are all adults; the youngest being 19 years old. He's a grandfather too.

Is that one of the reasons a man his age (if he's doesn't want kids anymore) will look for an older woman?

His girlfriend also has 2 kids (both adults too) of her own from a previous marriage.

I doubt if he actively looks for someone younger for that reason. On the other hand, if she was young and wanted kids that could be a deal breaker.

In general people naturally gravitate toward others that are not too distant in age. You see this a lot in the work place where people from all age groups work together. The social groups tend to be within a reasonable age of each other.

Another factor is retirement. If one is retired and the other isn't, it can potentially cause issues. A man in his 50s is probably seriously looking at retirement. Even if it's 10+ years away, he's probably still thinking about it. That's especially true if he wants to travel, which is very difficult if one partner is still working.

I've known multiple men who were retired or nearing retirement, who did not want to be with someone who planned on working several more years. That would really hurt their own retirement plans. This is a huge factor for men in their 50s and 60s.

I think most men who are 50+ pretty much assume that anyone they match up with will already have grown kids. At that age, having kids or not having kids is not really an issue any more. It would be a rare exception for it to be a factor.

True. He's thinking about retiring one day. After he retires he wants to travel around the world, visit places with his girlfriend; have a relaxing life.

Yea if he don't want more kids then older woman might suit him better, though young women tend to look better, and he might subconsciously want more kids, so it not easy to know.

Yeah in a conversation with us, he said it himself that he's done with kids, doesn't want to deal with any surprise pregnancy, will retire one day and likes the idea of traveling (after he retires) with a mature partner that's also done with kids.
