A coworker calls me because I lost a pen that he claims was the only pen he had. Is this person stupid, desperate, or both?

A coworker calls me because I lost a pen that he claims was the only pen he had. He asks me, do you have the pen I gave you? I'm like, no I don't. And I don't remember where I left it, nor do I even remember what the pen looked like. He's like that was his last pen. I'm like, how is it that your last pen? You're a professional. Shouldn't you keep spare pens with you in your drawer? Like, how many pens have you borrowed from people and mistakenly lost? Not that we intend to lose another person's pens or pencils, and I didn't mean to lose your pen. It's just that I have a trillion things going on in brain every minute of every single thing, 99% of which are far more valuable than a pen. I can always get a new pen. But I can't get back a loved one's life one's it's lost, leaving me in such grief. And you're calling me asking if I had a pen you gave me. Are you serious? I have a bunch of things going on in my head every single day, and in a short period of time. My brain is set to explode and ooze out my ears. Do you think for a microsecond I'm going to have room in my stressed brain or time in my stressful schedule to be remembering where I dropped a pen? Get on your a game knucklehead!!! Use your brain!!! Go to the store, and buy yourself pens and pencils, and need I add a pen/pencil holder. This way when it gets lost real quickly, you can replace it real quickly and not have to worry about running out of pens. That's a lot easier to remember that asking someone else to remember to replace a pen, don't you think? I just gave a 'common sense lesson' to a coworker. I didn't mean to lose his pen though. What you guys think?

PS: Why do you think we have pen and pencil cups or holders? Because pens and pencils unintentionally get lost every minute of every minute of every hour of every day. While I'm trying to remember to replace a pen for you as crazy busy as I am, you could be buying you a pack of pens and pencils and storing them in your drawer. Problem solved way better than you would think.
