I was hit indirectly while I was lifeguarding at a public beach. We kicked out all the swimmers due to rain and thunder.

The rain was coming down hard and I was walking on the concrete walkway near the washroom facility. The downspout to the eaves trough was dumping out onto the concreate at the end and flowing down the walkway where I was walking.

I heard a clap of thunder and a second later felt my knees drop-out from beneath me. I was numb for about 2 mins. Lighting hit the water in the aluminum eavestrough travelled down through the downspout across the walkway via the flowing water on the concrete sidewalk, went up one leg and down the other.

Scared the crap out of me.

Believe me or not, it's not my body that was strucked. It was my dad's. He claimed he was holding a umbrella and he got hit by it. I don't know what he felt but what everyone saw his leg. He walked into a walmart and everyone just stared at him. Wtf was wrong? He didn't know... until he looked at his leg. He was bleeding. Bad from his leg. Of course, he got it treated but I hope god doesn't smite me. :c

Yeah, I don’t know it seems to me that just getting struck by lightning makes you incredibly unlucky. Getting struck by lightning’s gotta suck, even if you live.

I would say that you are unlucky because you were struck by it, but at the same time you're lucky because you survived.

My boyfriend has been struck by lightning twice in his life 💀 I don’t know if I’d consider that lucky
