Where did you see where you would be today five years ago? and did it come true?

Kind of a twist on those 'where do you see yourself in five years' questions. five years ago in the past where did you say you saw yourself today? did what you say back then come true for you?

for instance if back then you said 'get a better job' well did you get a better job? I think this might be interesting. we can see if the things we look forward to in life actually come true for us or if life has us going in a totally unpredictable direction as does happen often. so five years ago was 2018. do you remember where you said you hoped to be 5 years from 2018? which is right now?

I think I like the version where the lady sings it? But this is just as soothing and dreamy.

I was 15 years old; second year of high school: sophomore. I did see myself at a bunch of places, as at this time I was still questioning which career path I wanted to dedicate the entirety of my life to. I was a Christian at the time and believed I had to also “wait for God’s answer” about what he had planned for my life and what my “purpose was.”

It was either helping the world in some way

or

ministering to people in the form of song.

It wasn’t that easily described then, and since my family seemed “well-off” and I didn’t wish to work. I didn’t, and I didn’t rush anything either. 👐 I just agonized going to school for the time being, and always anticipated the summer breaks. I saw myself enjoying my summers and that’s what I always did 😂.

I was of 9 years five years ago. I didn't aim much in those days, didn't have goals. I just had one wish to own a puppy and one desire to become singer. But surely, I never expected in those days that I'll start loving writing and reading (I hated it because they were directly related to studies), hell writing is my life now. I never expected I will start loving piano, I hated piano classes those days and piano teacher too. But now he is my favourite teacher of my favourite class. And I never expected I'll have such a legit glow up. I never expected I'll stay on the skinny side because I was slightly chubby those days.

This is a great question. There are certain things that are exactly as I expected them. My kids and where they're at in life and that progression.

A lot of the rest is very different.

I'm in a way worse financial shape both because of some job things as well as the stock market.

The pandemic changed the course of some volunteer work I was doing and I didn't see that coming and it still hurts my heart.

My job changed and I didn't expect that. The change itself turned out to be good but the salary, unfortunately, did not.

My wife's career took a dramatic change in the last 18 months and it was good but I didn't see it coming and neither did she.

Uhm with 16 I made a whole ass list of things I wanna achieve the upcoming years and with 21 (5,5 years ago) I was still chasing that list down and with freshly 25 I got everything I wanted and since that I'm a bit clueless and trying to find new things

Have my own business, a place to stay, bigger boobs and with abs. Well I did get my business but it's frozen cause the job I had before wasn't enough for it. boobs? We workin' on it. Abs? Well starting to feel my stomach get a little tighter and flatter. It's not a six pack yet but starting to feel like it.

There's something I thought I would have by now and I managed to get it. But I'm still unable to move to a decent country. I realized that I'm going to need at least 2 or 3 years to move.

So far, my life hasn't been very predictable. I've had my fair share of surprises and twists...

5 years ago I was repeating freshman year, had some household/family troubles and was just a mess. It was hard to think of the future I could barely think to next week.
Now I’m obviously an adult, moved out, ended up dropping out of high school at 16 and in CC now. Still hard to think of the future, and life is differently though equally as stressful as it was then.

I’m still disappointed because nothing has changed except that I’m not paying child support anymore but I thought I would’ve had a girlfriend by now and a bigger place, I did get a new car 2 years ago but other than that it’s been disappointing

Dead, I didn’t expect to make it to 21/22. I thought I would’ve either taken myself out or I would’ve died from my body failing me. Obviously neither of those happened.
