My patient's mom gave my number to the other caregiver who works opposite of me. That caregiver has now been calling my phone on my day off asking me about swapping work days with her. I told her ," You need to call the work office for scheduling. I'm off work and I'm not a scheduler. " Then blocked her. Silly pest

I don't pick up the phone for people I don't know anyway. So if they aren't in my phone from exchanging numbers they can call all day every day and they would get nowhere with all their energy spent. Phone is on vibrate most of the time anyway. I likely wouldn't even hear it.

I purposely did not give my boss my cell phone number. I told him I only give that number to my wife and kids. If he wanted my cell phone number the company would have to buy me a cell phone. This guy was such an asshole he would have called me at night to ask me a stupid question.

well not just pissed. in germany (and in most of Europe), this is straight up illegal to do. it's a violation of data privacy like you described, that's litterally a criminal offense in the EU. you have to have a form of written consent from the person to actually be allowed to do this.

I used to work as a caregiver several years ago, and we had briefings at shift change. We would check in with each other and compare notes and share updates. That way our client would get the best care possible.

If you didn't want her to ask to change shifts with you, you could have just stated that politely.
Now you have caused a breakdown in communication of the care team.

Yes, but it wouldn't do that person any good anyhow. I don't answer phone calls from number's I don't know. And I don't answer calls from work. If they expect me to field calls they have to pay me to do it.
