Do you think words are ever a reason for attack?

We often say stuff like "Words are never a reason for violence" or that you should never attack somebody because of their words. But is this really true? I started wondering a while ago. If you think about it, words can be more powerful or hit deeper than physical touch or physical assault. Words can make a person depressed, break a heart, or make them angry.

When we try to say a person is weak for letting words get to them, I don't think we're really being honest. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" is an enormous lie. Words can hurt people 10x more than sticks and stones. Words have started wars. A person's own words have caused people to get cancelled. People block one another over words. Even Proverbs 18 has this very interesting passage: "A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul."

I'm going to say something that will probably piss some people off, but I don't care.

Words can absolutely be a reason for attack, and sometimes they are. Someone calls your dead mother a whore, or calls you a racial slur I bet you will jump on them within seconds, or at least get a strong urge to do so. I also think that I've spent so much time making sure that I get to where I am today, and I'm very blessed to he in this place.

You bet your ass I'm not just going to throw it all away to punch a dickhead in the face, just because they were talking shit. My dad taught me to control my emotions and never let it control me. Being stoic is part of being a man, and while words can and do heart that I do believe you are justified to attack someone for saying certain things, I don't think it's in your best interest because their objective is to get you to react and if you end up in prison, they win. Don't fall for it. You have 2 options, either talk some shit back, or walk away. The latter is better than the former. If that's a loved one, or a family member or a friend telling you hurtful things, they need to get a one-way ticket out of your life.

Life is too short to be spent around idiots all the time.

If you think words can hurt you there's something wrong because they can't even phase you the only reason why people get upset is because it might be real on what the other person might be saying but if you don't have more discipline than that to just laugh it off then something's wrong words mean nothing at the end of the day they mean not one f****** thing no somebody comes up and pushes you you have the right to protect yourself but when somebody uses their words to try to hurt you I'd laugh at that how in the f*** is that going to hurt somebody it's in the airwaves it just travels right past you it means nothing the only time that you attack somebody is if you are being attacked or they're hurting somebody in your family or your pet are just hurting somebody that cannot fight back themselves otherwise just laugh it off there's nothing but a sound wave going through the air is petty b*******

I think that words can hurt - they may not cause as much physical harm and leave visible scars, but they can damage a person's feelings and self-confidence much more than something physical. It is much more difficult to heal from verbal hurt than physical hurt.

When we try to say that people should "just ignore" verbal abuse or let mean words wash over them without affecting them "if they're strong enough", we are really not being sensitive to what verbal harm can do.

Words can cause damage mentally and emotionally so yes they are hurtful. A reason for a attack really depends. Like I wouldn't attack anyone over saying I'm ugly because i just dont care how people view my looks but I would attack if someone made a threat or said something bad about my kids. Everyone has a breaking point of when theyd fight over words.

Attacking someone physically is violent abuse. It's only justified in self defence.
If your loved ones insult you however, it's not a reason to become violent.
This will not fix anything.
Instead think about why this hurts you so much and work on that.
Also, tell your partner that you are vulnerable at that spot of your soul
and that you can't tolerate them using their knowledge over your weak spots against you. Tell them how betrayed you feel, when they do that. If they keep on abusing you, leave. Don't hit back. It's no use.

Men who become violent when their spouse abuses them emotionally have childhood trauma. Beating up your girlfriend won't fix the fact that your mom/dad didn't raise you, didn't love you, abused you; it will only make you become a perpetrator, not less of a victim. Obviously your girlfriend's emotional abuse is not an inch better, but that is her job to handle her past, not yours. If she abuses you, don't react in kind. Be more than that. Work on your violent instincts, question where they come from (ideally with the help of a psychologist who looks into your childhood for answers) and leave if your girlfriend won't stop. Distance yourself from your girlfriend, whenever one or the other engages in abuse. And for the love of god, avoid scenarios where you can't avoid one another like moving in together in small apartments or going on vacation together where you share one sleeping place and one car. That's like tethering yourself to a cactus.

Words have power.

There are many classes of words.

Logic, Philosophy, Ethical, Malevolent, Curses.

I'll demonstrate a years long curse.

A father sits a little girl down, and he looks her in the eye and tells her that no one will ever love her.

He then leaves, never to be seen again.

That girl will never be the same again.

She has been cursed.

No amount of therapy will fix her.

Maybe if she figures out how to paradigm shift her mind such that she figures out how to love herself.

But that is a path for the strong.

Parents curse their children all the time.

My parents cursed me.

My siblings cursed me.

My former friends cursed me.

My teachers cursed me.

People on the net have cursed me.

There used to be social rules about “fighting words,” basically casting aspersions about someone’s personal honor. Violating those rules could result in a duel. That said, people seem to feel attacked by political disagreements or disagreements about morality these days…things that fall short of what used to be considered fighting words.

What I've seen of a lot of people more and more in the last few years is that they never expect consequences for their word or actions. I personally try to be mannerly and respectful towards people because I know it may start a violent confrontation
