Can someone be charged for doing this?

This is from an episode. It was about a cheating husband that brought the mistress home and had her dressed up in a scary dress with special make-up and mirror side effects, making the wife believe it's a ghost haunting their house, a ghost terrifying her at nights. Meanwhile the wife was starting to believe she was going crazy and her husband wanted her to continue taking medications.

He and the mistress wanted her to go crazy to the point of getting send to a mental institution so they can be together. If this were to happen in real life, would they be charged?

He didn't want to get caught cheating so he came out with the idea of passing his mistress as a scary ghost bride.
