When people say 'ill give it a try' this is what Yoda would say to that. do you agree or disagree that there is no 'try'? Rather its 'do or do not do?'
Well if you want to get technical. But then again, my maternal grandmother, before she passed away said: "To try is to succeed" .. but I think realistically, it's too simplistic of an advice as there are so many other factors that can impede that. Maybe if, like Jack Carter down below said, if you keep trying, then eventually yes, your chances to succeed are greater. But it really depends in my opinion. It's not that simple or optimistic.
Also, if there WASN'T that, then the word "try" or "effort" wouldn't have been invented! They needed to call that verb something, and try was what they came up with.

I disagree but I get what Yoda was saying. He was trying to boost Luke’s morale by encouraging him not to think about the possibility of failure.

trying very much exists. "do you like food X?" you do not know till you try it.Taken at face value, it is ridiculous. But in the context I think "try" is understood as not giving it everything rather than giving it all and failing.
I think it only applies to people who are strong in the Force. The rest of us have to do our best and find out if it works.
