If someone is incredibly unhappy with the appearance of their breasts whether they be flat chested or a FF+ cup, should they wait until they are 18+ to get surgery to remedy the issue?
1.7K opinions shared on Other topic. I don't think there is a legit surgeon who would perform cosmetic breast surgery on a pre-18 year old.
There would be little point (pun not intended) as puberty could hit them like a train, and make those "enhancements" need correction.

At 16/17 it's unlikely there will be much of a change

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThe first port of call for anyone of any age should be therapy as this is almost certainly the actual problem.
I strongly suspect there are very few and perhaps even no people who have any kind of work done (aside from reconstructive surgery following accidents and those with back problems etc) who are really 'of sound mind'.

there is no age limit for breast surgery, though most doctors won't operate till the person inquiring's breast development has taken place which is around the age of 20. so yeah they should just wait.

+1 yThe problem is that almost no one likes their body at that age. Not even boys.
Waiting to turn 18 is an absolute must for procedures like that, unless there is some medical reason to do it. I know there are women who grow gigantic chests in their teens, but until it's negatively impacting their physical health, the risk of a girl choosing to change herself in a way that she comes to regret is just too high.
She has all the time in the world to make those decisions when she turns 18.
10 Reply 12.8K opinions shared on Other topic. I don't know. I had issues with my body that was very embarrassing for me when I was young. Naturally my parents could not afford cosmetic surgery but when I was 15 or 16 it might have helped me. However now that I am old and have a daughter I would not approve of getting a boob job at age 16 just to attract boys
05 Reply- +1 y
It's not necessarily to attract boys. It's to feel more comfortable and confident in your body

I'm talking literal flat chestedness, breasts haven't developed by the time they are 16/17

I don't know what I would do. It is a big responsibility. Whan my son was a baby he was diagnosed with something called a hydroelectric. It is like a hernia. One testicle was way bigger than the other. He could have just lived with it but we decided to have him repaired. My wife knew the surgeon and we had it done in the hospital where my wife worked. He was was on the gurney and waved at me as they took him away. At that moment I realized what a huge responsibility it is to be a parent. If something happened to him I realized that I was the one that made the decision If you have kids you will understand. X-7
+1 yWell, honestly, I think that set aside extreme cases and psy problems, people should learn and be happy with, and use what nature gave them. If you have big breasts, keep them, because there are guys (and girls ;0) who love that. If you have small breasts, just be happy with them, because many guys (and girls ;0) will love that also.
Anyway, really loving someone does not depend on particular physical features, even if they may have helped establish a first contact.
00 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Other topic. Wait until their body stops growing. Especially for going bigger. I know a couple of girls - one is my ex - who were miserable with A cups at 16 who were DD by 21 naturally.
Reduction is different but before doing anything get growth hormone levels checked.00 ReplyI think ANY body altering surgery should ONLY be done on adults. Anyone below the age could just be going through a phase and think they want something then realize later it was a mistake. If permanent changes are made then it is too late for them to be undone.

+1 yI say 18 or over for enhancement to give your body enough time to mature. As for reduction, I think that is a better answer for a doctor and patient to decide. I'm not a doctor and don't know if there's reason a minor (nearing adult) might need one medically.

+1 yMacromastia-related health issues are a very real medical concern for a select few teenage girls. They absolutely should be able to get reductions as minors if the weight is causing harm, before the bone effects become permanent. I once knew a girl who was a UK K cup at 16, and these girls should absolutely be granted an age exception by private insurance and / or national healthcare systems.
Implants for a minor? Absolutely not.00 Reply
+1 ySurgery comes with both pros and cons. All surgeries have side effects. It’s a personal decision and I fully support individual choice but your body has not developed all the way as a teenager.
If surgery was completely safe and reversible, I’d have done many things to change my body over the years. But mostly I like my body now at my age.00 Reply1K opinions shared on Other topic. I personally think they should talk to someone about it before hand. I don’t mean a friend that would support them but someone who would understand and notice if there are any underlying concerns. Some people want to make changes to their appearance and afterwards they still are not happy. The underlying reason is not their appearance but something that might be out of their control. Changing their appearance is just a way to be in control of something in their life.

+1 yHell yes. Any parent letting their minor kids get cosmetic purposes only surgeries to alter their bodies for life are negligent in their responsibilities. They want to be "friends".
The same with piercings and tattoos.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI do think any cosmetic surgery should wait until after 18. And I think they should have to do a degree of checking to make sure with a professional. Unless there is a medical reason. There isn't a medical reason for increasing breast size. But there can be several for a reduction.
I think it depends on what cosmetic change and the context is what matters.02 Reply- +1 y
Isn't mental wellness a medical reason?
Opinion Owner+1 yYes it would be but I think with that it would require more work to make sure it's what is best. As the surgery could possibly have a negative impact.
It's easier to deal with the physical side I guess it's not such a grey area.

+1 yAbsolutely!! They don't finish growing `til you're at least 24! And, how can a little afford something as expensive as that? Besides, there are ways to MAKE them grow bigger! Save your money!!
00 Reply Trust me. Your breasts have nothing to do with who you are. If you are really nice person than think of helping others with that money instead of changing your appearance. It's your soul that's more valuable
00 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Other topic. Most definitely.
I waited until I was 25 before having a BR done.

Very true. But surgeries have the opposite affect. Cutting up your body to stuff who knows what material inside you. And if it breaks inside you, then what? Bigger breasts to not make you a better or prettier person. Be more confident in your looks. Because usually it's all in their head..
1.3K opinions shared on Other topic. Yes. They are too young to make these decisions and the body needs to finish development.
