Should I go to a concert or a Halloween party?

I've been invited to a big Halloween party, but I also have tickets to a Melanie Martinez concert on the same night. I've been a fan of Melanie for four years, and my original plan was to go to the concert with my friend. However, I now have to bring my cousin, which means my friend will go to the party without me, and I'll miss out on a lot. Missing out really bothers me because this party is a chance for me to meet new people, maybe get together with someone I like and potentially strengthen friendships. What do you think I should do?

If I’m not going to the concert I’m giving the tickets to my cousin for her to bring a friend.

I’ve never been to a concert and I’ve been to a Halloween party before but this one is HUGE and it’s my last year of high school, last chance.

Go to the concert. It’s a new experience for you and you will remember it forever. I understand a huge party is very tempting but you will have more parties and in college the parties get even better.

You’re right, it’s just that I’ll probably never party with the people I surround myself with now. What’s bothering me is that since I won’t be going to the concert with my friend she will likely attend that party and I’ll be missing out on a lot and people will get to know her better at school and I won’t be able to relate to anything people will be talking about related to the party. I’m afraid they’ll like her more, so I just hate missing out.
The concert lasts 2 hours and maybe I’ll make it if the party lasts awhile.

To me this sounds like less of a party vs concert question and more about your friend. Is she really your friend and how much more would they really know in one night?

We are really close friends but the friendship used to be a bit competitive. We both promised each other that we’d try be invited to a huge party because we haven’t been invited to one at school before. Now that we have, we also have the chance to let people know us for us and I finally got the invite but that crashed with the concert.

Well while it used to be competitive, you have to admit it’s still competitive and I sense you feel jelly of your friend. You fulfilled your promise as you both got the invite but are you upset your friend is choosing the party over the concert ; in other words not choosing you?

My friend was supposed to come with me but my mother only allowed me to go if I brought my cousins, hence why I got the tickets in the first place leaving my friend no choice. Either I go to the party with my friend or I go to the concert with my cousin.

Partly, but it’s also because I don’t wanna miss out. I’m pretty sure that the “ideal” Highschool experiences will happen there and I don’t want to miss out on that.

I went to a Halloween party last year but this one is BIG. I have never gone to a concert but I can anytime and it’s my last year of high school.
