I saw a sign that read "Drug addicts are people too'. What are your feelings about that statement?

Please try to show some compassion here. I know a lot of you believe drug addicted people don't care about their lives and they wish they didn't exist. Especially the homeless people.

Ya know, we haven't walked a mile in their shoes. We don't know how bad their lives have always been. The probably curse the day they were conceived. They did not ask to be born. Maybe all of their family died and they had no one left. We just don't know.
Please keep your nasty comments to yourself about them. They aren't hurting you are they?

A few of my good friends being drug addicts has caused me a lot of problems. Drug addicts don't care about themselves and don't care about the problems they cause for the people that care about them, and don't care about the problems they cause for society in general. No matter how much people try to help them, they need to want to help themselves first. They always have an excuse and it's never their fault until they actually want to change their life. I'm not dealing with it anymore.

Yours was a very true and good observation and opinion.
My boyfriend died suddenly last month from Fentanyl poisoning (mixed with meth).
I was ignorant. He told me he was going to quit meth. I didn't know anything about it. I thought it was like quitting smoking or something.
You're right though. They are like power lawnmowers of distraction and will run you down if they get the chance. They don't care! He stole all of my savings hours before he died and I never found out what happened to it.
Growing up everyone in my family took drugs. Even my grandma.
I have never taken drugs or drank alcohol. It doesn't really make me better than anyone else, it just wasn't something I ever felt I needed to do.
Everyone is different though.
I guess the sign should have had some more words on it - like you better stay out of my way.

Show them drug addicts a fresh apple pie slice and a joint of weed but offer them to take only either. You'll see what type of person they are and whether they deserve to be in the situation they are in.

I never drank or did drugs but that didn't keep me out of the poor house. Having a Father that abandoned us and never paying child support - that will also put someone in the poor house!

That's exactly why I said "offer them an apple pie or a joint but not both".
I grew up with 0 money and starving and sick in an abusive and toxic family. There was nobody, that offered me either food or drugs. I was a walking skeleton! If there was, I'd take food.
And so I crawled out of poverty by myself. Today I live alone in a big city and buy my own food.

It amazing what some people are put through in life and still survive somehow. Of course they don't live through it unscathed.
When I was 6 years old, my Mom got pregnant and couldn't afford to keep the baby.
Well, he is a grown man now and kind of rubs in my face all the great things his adopted family has given him. He just sent me a picture of his house in Montana and sends pics of when they live near the Ocean.
He is in his sixties like me. He never had to worry about food, shelter, anything.
Me on the other hand, my mom did her best.
I just wish he didn't have to be such a show off when he knows I am down and out. Maybe he's trying to punish me for being adopted somehow 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really have no sympathy for them. My uncle who was a cop used to say they should just set up big tables in front of city hall and just put boxes full of drugs out for free. He said that they will just end up killing themselves because that is what they want to do in the first place.

Nobody has a perfect life and life sure ain't fair. We get what we get but drugs to me was just giving up. I was around in the 80s when drugs were everywhere. All my friends used them. I only knew one kid that used heroin and he was a really bad kid that nobody wanted to hang out with.

Drugs addicts definitely hurt society. Outside of being mentally ill I don't have sympathy for people that don't want to help theirselves. My brother is a drug addict and I helped my best friend get off of cocaine. I have a fair bit of experience with drug addicts because of the environment I grew up in.

People that have never suffered from addiction will never know what it’s like it takes everything my family my life my heart I built from scratch again and again you know how many times I’ve had to start over I’m alone now my family has been gone my son my heart I don’t wish addiction the pain and suffering it brings on anyone it’s sad and it’s nothing pain is all it brings and I’ll never be free like I said I’m clean but it’s still got it’s hand wrapped around me it’s never going to let go

Ask any Sherriff that runs the county jail. They will tell you that most of the people in jail are there for drug related crimes. Dealing, possession, theft, burglary, assaults and other crimes that are connected to illegal drug use. They will tell you that 90% of them started smoking pot and most will tell you that they regret doing it that first time.
