I'm for Daylight Saving Time, let's keep springing forward and falling back!
Get rid of this antiquated Daylight Saving Time, it no longer applies to modern times!

Pay attention this Saturday evening at what time it gets dark. Then pay attention to the exact same time it gets dark Sunday evening.
As the days continue to become shorter it gets darker earlier in the evening. I know, l know, Duh. But, if we stayed on permanent daylight savings time, the days will continue to get shorter until the winter solstice which is when the days start getting longer. Having that extra one hour of daylight, with sticking to permanent daylight savings time, really isn’t much daylight left to begin with.
What time is the sun coming up Saturday? Now after we fall back, how much daylight do we have at that very same time come Sunday morning?
It is all about complacency. Not many of us pay attention to those details.
Now come the summer solstice, around June 21st, the days gradually become shorter. So from June 21st to around December 21st the days continue to get shorter. Then they gradually become longer. It only seems like a dramatic change when we first spring forward then fall back.
Details. Details.
"extra one hour of daylight"? noone makes the sun shine longer.
It is what it is, but it takes me a month to get used to moving the clocks forward
yeh, moving forward is like losing sleep. shouldn't have changed it, now, if kept, no need to forward in spring.
I normally wake up at 6am to go workout or get some early work done, but my body is so attuned to it, that I'm waking up at 5am, and it's just messing with my day because I can't get back to sleep. It's not just humans either, animals don't know what the hell a time change is, and you can't explain it, so just annoying.
I wouldn't mind getting rid of it, since many states don't follow it anyway. It messes with my sleep cycle so it might be better not to have it.
It's essentially pointless now, which leads me to believe that there is something else behind the scenes, probably involving money/jobs, that is preventing the total removal, because why in 2023 do we still need this? There is no other actual reason?

I have not heard any debate, not even in subdued tones.
Put me down for "Option C - retain Daylight Savings Time year round."
Where I grew up in Michigan the summer days lingered into almost the 10 P. M. hour. It was beautiful to see the twilight. To be able to go out an enjoy the twilight hours.
Even when I loved to Washington, DC the latest sunset was 8:37 P. M. - yes, I am a nerd and I looked it up - but you still got long lingering evenings. Not as long because the closer you get to the equator the more equal the length of night and day become. Throw in also that as DC was further east in the eastern time zone the sun would rise earlier because the Earth rotates east to west and so the sun would reach DC before reaching Michigan.
Even though the effect would not be as pronounced in Winter, it is still nice to have sun at 5:30 at night. It just made things seem a bit more comfortable.
As to mornings - and I say this as a morning person - who cares. Most people are in a building at work or school. If the sun rises later, you won't notice anyhow. The benefit is just not that great.
So put me down for Daylight Savings Time year round. In summer it makes for long lingering twilights. In winter, it would spare you the earlier arrival of the dreary cold darkness.
No one is debating daylight savings time... What Americans are debating behind closed doors in court rooms is if the court can actually tell the public that Trump won the 2020 election and that the Democrats are treasonous criminals... That's what is happening in court rooms around the nation.

I look forward to turning the clocks back then n the fall.
I know most people want it to be daylight forever probably, but there is something cozy when the clocks get turned back.
I hate the summer where I live. I long for the fall and winter to get cooled off.
If we didn't have daylight savings time, what months would be fall and winter In years to come. I just can't wrap my head around it. I've been used to daylight savings time for 69 years and now you suddenly need to change it. Well, it just confused me altogether. 🤬
"what months would be fall and winter" the cooler and colder months.
The reality is that nothing is saved. For what ever reason used to start it, today is an decision based on economics. People have more daylight during the warmer months to go out and spend money. As people get older their night vision ability fades and so they avoid driving at night. As long as reatilers have any say, it will not change. I lived through the Arab oil embargo where it was daylight savings time all year. I was at college in New Jersey. I remember sitting in my first class as the sun came up. I don't have the answer for this one. I am retired and don't have to get up early, so for me it is a non issue.
I appreciate the thought, but the only person I have EVER heard (or read) advocate for having permanent Standard time is me. What others (including state and federal Congresses) have pushed for is permanent daylight time, which is a horrendous idea.
it depends which time zone you dwell.
@strateguy632 Fair enough; I suppose there might be some places that've tried to join Arizona.
I like DST and prefer things the way they are.
In summer I enjoy the longer days, which are great for summertime activities.
In winter I want it to get light in the morning before I start work.
I have never understood people who complain about the effects of the time changes on their sleep and health. I mean seriously, are you that inflexible? Would it throw you into a health crisis if you had to stay up late or get up early for something? If so, I feel sorry for you, but don't let your fragility muck things up for the rest of us.
We need a standard time, it was originally meant to save energy but it’s antiquated now and not every state or country follows it, I’m tired of driving back home in the dark and looking like it’s later than it is, the days are short enough this time of year
precisely consider most jobs are 9 to 5 , this clock change means everyone driving after sunset.
@strateguy632 Yeah I make deliveries and it’s harder to find them and back into the loading area with out much lighting because I’m still working till 6 at times
I understand the benefits the government tells us we get out of it, like saving on bills, but it is an outdated practice we need to get rid of. Most of the rest of the world doesn't even do it anymore.

"I average out the spring and fall changes and just set my clocks 39 minutes ahead year-round."
i like daylight savings time but i'll be ok whatever they do all my clocks reset automatically so usually i don't even know when it happens
pick one and stick with it...
Mexico did it already... now I am just waiting for the US to do so as well
Actually, the third choice that is more popular is keep daylight savings time year-round.
I'm fine with it just as it is.
I wish it was a permanent thing, it’s so confusing going forward and back hours.
Get rid of it.
There is no need to be changing the time around.
The reason they started with is antiquated.
I think it's astonishing how man feels like he can control time but can't control the sunrise and sunset.
days are short enough this time of year so the clock move INTENSIFIED the earlier dark even before 5 pm in n. y. city. yikes.
Exactly what @NathanDavis said. One or the other, but enough with this back and forth.
In Germany we too have this 1 hour changing scheme. Who the fuck even came up with this nonsense and how fucking bored must have been this somebody?
I'd like to keep things as natural as possible.
I've always thought we should just move the clocks half an hour, one way or t'other, and just leave them that way.
I don't really feel any type of way about it.. Whether it happens or not either is fine with me.
We should all adopt UTC, the international standard. Who needs time zones?
all? like new york start job at 11 a. m. utc time?
@strateguy632 Einstein proved that time is relative, so what difference do the numbers make?
We should keep daylight savings time all year long.
precisely! i finally found an ally. i tried to find for years!! even environmental ignored me. lol
@strateguy632 I hate driving home from work in the dark. I leave in the dark and go home in the dark and spend the whole day indoors.
I pressed the wrong button! It’s stupid. Kill it with fire! Our economy no longer revolves around agriculture.
i understand you hate the changes, i hope you agree with exit and abc here?
I'm fine with the way it is. I'm retired and all my clocks change automatically. So the odds that I'd even notice the time change is really unlikely. I'm not sure when it is
I thought they were going to get rid of it a few years ago.
I don't really care. It was first suggested during the revolution, and not instituted until World War II.
Get rid of it. Just stay on Daylinght Savings Time heat around
Permanent standard time. Daylight savings time was literally a practical joke by Benjamin Franklin
Remove it. I hate it.
Remove which?
Let's fall back and leave it forever.
i'm so sick of it
It's a concept for retards.
Don’t really attach much importance to it.
It's antiquated
