Say you’re driving down a long quiet country road, drinking your coffee, eating your breakfast burrito, putting a little makeup on, perhaps looking at sexy pictures of yourself and texting. Suddenly you feel and hear a loud thump, when you look up, you see something bounce off your windshield. You immediately pull over, get out of your car and see a stupid dog flopping on the side of the road like a fish out of water. You look around and don’t see anybody. What should you do? Have any of you been in this situation? If yes, what did you do?
Woah, that would totally freak me out man! First thing I'd do is try to figure out where the dog came from. Maybe it lives on one of the properties nearby. I'd look around for a house or owner first before doing anything else.
If there's no one around after like 5 minutes, I'd call animal control or a local rescue and tell them the situation. Better they deal with injured animals safely. I'd also try to make the dog comfortable while waiting, like use my sweater to keep it warm. Poor guy must be scared and hurt.
I'd definitely stick around till help comes just to make sure the pup is OK. But I wouldn't wanna try moving it myself in case something's broken, you know? Don't want the injury to get worse. Just try to soothe it with my voice so it doesn't freak out more. Maybe give it a little water too if it looks thirsty.
Hope the owner finds their doggy soon! Stuff like that is why you gotta always slow down on back roads, never know what could run out. At least the little guy has a chance now though, right? That's what really matters.

You’re not liable if the dog escapes. I wouldn’t have paid for that. That's on the owners.
Someone else with money to burn can fund that. I'd afford the dog a prayer because I'm not swerving off the road endangering myself and others in the vehicle to avoid a dog.
That's why you watch your animals and don't lose track of them. That's also why we should never take our eyes off the road when driving. Both of those things could have saved that dog from enduring so much pain.
I swear, Ted! If you hit a dog and left it on the side of the road, I will never speak to you again!

Not joking, I would never be in the situation. if I was actually paying attention, and the dog ran out in front of me, and I couldn't control whether or not I hit him, I would do the same thing you mentioned in your update.
I blasted a cat on a country road about 25 years ago. I was doing about 70 and didn't see it until it was too late. I was sure I killed it. But seeing how much punishment cats can take I wonder if it possibly survived.
I'd put the pup in the back seat and make a b-line for the closest vet.
I’d kick him off the road and take off.
I would put it 2 the side of the road so cars can't hit it, call 911 to get an animal shelter 2 pick it up.
Help the dog!!! 😭😭😭
