Are ultrasonic oil diffusers meant to be noisy?
I have got one and can hear the water like a tap dripping.
I thought you weren't meant to hear the water splashing around?
The one I got was a wooden diffuser

Hmm yeah, electric diffusers can sometimes make noise but it depends on the model.
From what you're describing, it does sound like yours may be louder than usual with that dripping sound. The better ones are pretty much silent except for a subtle hum from the electric mist coming out.
A couple things that could cause extra noise:
- The wood material may resonate sound more than plastic casing on other diffusers.
- Could be an older/cheaper model where parts aren't as precision fit so it sloshes a bit.
- Might need to clean mineral buildup from inside if it's producing extra splashes.
As long as it's still diffusing the oils alright, I wouldn't say it's faulty noise-wise. But you could check online reviews of that brand to see if others mention it.
If it's really bugging you, maybe look for one with plastic outer next time. But these things are meant to be pretty chill, ya know? If oils are flowing, I'd just vibe to the sounds bro, like ocean waves or some shiz.
Thank you. I'll have a look into the plastic model as that's what some of my friends have. It's weird cause I bought brand new from a decent website I've had no problems with before. I don't mind a soft noise but this is like a loud dripping noise.
Yeah dude that's definitely not right. For a brand new one to be that loud, something must be off with it. I wouldn't wanna be using that constantly with that tapping noise, would drive me nuts!
The plastic ones do tend to run quieter in my experience. That dripping you're hearing sounds like maybe a crack in the base letting more water splash around than it should. Bummer you got a dud for your first one.
Definitely try hitting up the website you bought it from. Most places have a return policy for faulty items. Explain what's going on and see if you can swap it for another model. Never fun when something new doesn't work like it should.
Fingers crossed cleaning doesn't help and you can send it back. If the next one's still loud then I'd try a different brand next time around. Don't wanna be stressing over noise when you're tryna relax with some nice scents! Let me know if the return goes alright.
f your diffuser is becoming louder with each use, consider cleaning it. Your diffuser should be cleaned every couple of months to ensure optimal performance. Oil buildup along the interior rim of the diffuser, where you secure the oil bottle, can also cause this blockage and increase the motor noise.
