As for a sweet disaster you don’t want one on your hands so make sure you do your research on the vehicle you plan on buying. As for me personally if both vehicles cost the same going with the one with the lowest mileage would be the best decision. On the flip side if you know someone good with cars take them along with you & also write down the license plates & the vehicles vin number & check it out on a website like the one above to see what it’s worth. In addition if you go to the website below & type in the vin number you can find the history on the vehicle & whether or not it was involved in an accident, flood, etc. On the report it should tell you how many owners the vehicle had & vehicles with original owners or very few are the best. You might want to start a GoFundMe page as well & start it off with 100 dollars & see if people will donate to toward your purchase of a new vehicle.
I would take that same money and buy an older Honda Accord/Civic or Toyota Camry/Corolla. You could get a 2010 or so Civic or Corolla with 100k miles for that kind of money, and even if the body of the car wasn't as nice, there would still be lots of usable life left in the car.
Both of the cars in your example are at the end of their usable life. The Hyundai is definitely built better than the Dodge, but it also has far more miles on it, making them equally bad choices. I think if you buy either one of these cars, you'll end up needing to spend several thousand more dollars just to keep them on the road within the next 6 months.
The Honda/Toyota models I listed are among the highest built-quality cars you can buy, and if your priority is being able to drive this car while having to put as little as possible in repair costs into them, then buying a car that's older and perhaps more wear to the body or interior, but has 100k or less miles on it, is likely to be a much better buy.
The higher the mileage, the more things start to go wrong and may cost more than you paid for the car. If you buy a used car and there is no warranty, walk the other way. Anyone who won't warranty a car has no faith that it will hold up, even after they say we check all the used cars out blah blah blah. Yet they have no way of proving they actually did this. I know someone who bought a used car and they said we checked it all out blah blah. But 75 miles later the transmission went out. And of course, the dealer would do nothing because it had no warranty. So she got stuck paying $1600 to fix the transmission.
I had sooo much trouble with my dart ☠️ I recommend you keep searching cuz neither of these are good options

All other things being equal, the lower mileage car is the better bet.
don't know much about either those.
find a honda or toyota, like a corolla in decent shape and maintained but looks like crap. those cars are made to last... especially toyota. make sure not rusted out.
keep the insurance low like collision comprehensive, keeps rates down. maintain to keep running.
anything else can get expensive repairs. check online for the quality rating of cars you are looking at for expected repairs and longevity... edmunds, kbb, mechanic, etc... if not good, waste of time as some cars fall apart after 100k.
I have a honda 200k miles, $1000 value. runs great, is keeper.
I agree with light bulb. Look for a well known reliable vehicle. I have a Toyota Prius as my commuter and love it. Best buy I've made in 10 years.
@Sharkstealth I just had an old woman almost out drag me up a hill and I had a Lexus she was in a Prius. Very impressed!:) 50mph in that Prius is hard to beat too!
You would think the dart with lower miles i shy away from dodge and chrysler products but i have rented a sonata and i was amazed it had some get up abd go but thats high mileage if it were a toyota i have sceen 350,000 miles on a well maintained toyota sevral times i don't know how you drive but my sister morphes into some speed demon the second she gets behind the wheel and out of all the cars she has owned honda civic seems to be only thing durable enough sometimes people do not have a whole lot of time to car shop but there are some shops out there that still like to help people so you take it to them tell them your thinking of buying it and usually they can take a quick look and help you decide
A lot of times, buying a used vehicle is just buying someone else's problems. Can you afford any payments each month? I bought a new Nissan Versa before and it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. 10 1/2 years old now and still works great.
Go for the newer car with less mileage unless there is mechanical issues with it. Best thing though is take whichever you decide to buy to an independent mechanic with no ties to the seller to get checked out. Preferably one you have dealt with in the past.
You would think that the Dodge with half the mileage would be a better choice. But that doesn’t always mean anything in today’s cars. It would depend upon the maintenance that both cars received!
The Dodge sounds better however any vehicle with over a hundred K miles on it can have hidden problems. A slipping transmission or some engine issue could cause expensive repairs later. A mechanic could check it out for you.
Dodge cars tend to have weaker transmissions, at least older models do.
2015 Dodge Dart it has far less mileage on it so less wear and tear on the internal mechanics of the vehicle and more importantly the engine.
Well if they are both equal the dodge is better. For 4k though you better make sure it is in good condition. Don't buy it on a kiss and a promise.
Lease the fucker! LMAO

Six bucks a day for a brand new car? That's as much as a cup of Starbucks coffee.
That seems high for both. I would look more unless your desperate currently. I'd say Hyundai because it's probably a better car but at 260,000. A Dodge dart at over 100,000. That's a tough one offer half the price.
Neither are a great deal. I think you should look for a used Toyota or Honda with mileage less than 100K.
If the mileage wasn't so wildly different, I'd say the Hyundai.
The One With The Less Miles. make Sure Though Both Run Good and No Hidden Problems. xxoo
Isn't a 100k dodge pretty much near end of life?
@MrOracle that's what I was thinking. if those were the only two options I'd say the hyundai. I've seen a few of those go to 250k. In Korea they're actually really nice, but I don't think I've been in one in the US in decades so can't say on that. I woulnd't trust the dart to make it another year personally
The lower mileage vehicle would give you more usage out of it but whatever you choose, get a reputable mechanic to give it a thorough going over
I’d definitely pick the dodge dart.
Has significantly less miles.
I would just be wary of why they’re only $4,000.
I would rather buy a a reliable, older car than a newer shittier one.
Stateside the Dodge isn't bad
Here in the UK I'd buy the Hyundai because dodge pulled out of the market
The Dart, the other car is near the end of its lifespan
dodge... everything else being equal, look at the miles if nothing else
always choose the one with lower mileage
Both will be a headache with this mileage.
I’d go with a Honda 👍🙂
Neither one is a good idea.
The one with way less miles lol
Dodge
less mile is can be better
