I just heard a young man (likely in his early 20's) saying this to a young woman of the same age. He has been a total jerk and wanted to correct things by saying ''No wait, don't leave, I'll be nicer''. That didn't make the young woman happy. She got more upset and she replied with an ''Omg get lost jerk'' and still left.
That scene I just saw yesterday brought me back memories of my old HS crush who acted like a jerk when he found out I admired him. I gave up on him afterwards, lost interest and was standing up to leave one day. Then he called out ''You're leaving? No, don't go, no wait, I'll be nicer''. That right there for some reason got me even more furious.
Would you say that's one of the worst attempts in stopping a girl/woman from leaving?

yes I agree really horrible
I'm willing to bet if we had been given a chance and stayed, then he might have reverted back to the same jerk instantly the next day.
I always thought the point isn't being nicer just because the person lost interest and you want them back but being a genuine decent person overall.
yes he'll probably revert to his old ways
That day my old HS made it even worse by following me from the school library all the way till I got to the cafeteria. That got me even more pissed off, an even more reason to lose interest in him, lol.
