Do you like pushy people who insist they are better than you, especially cops?

I know cops have a tough job these days. You see them being shot all the time. They have to approach people carefully, but sometimes they can be real ass hats.

A DEA officer stopped at our farm yesterday, he said “I need to inspect your farm for illegal growing drugs.”

I said “Okay, but don’t go in that field over there.”

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, “Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me!” Reaching into his rear pants pocket, the arrogant officer removed his badge and shoved it in my face. “See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish…. On any land !! No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear?…. do you understand?”

I nodded politely, apologized, and went about my chores. A short time later, I heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by my big old mean bull…. With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he’d sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.

I threw down my tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of my lungs

“Your badge, show him your BADGE!!” 😂🤣

Now on the other end you have cops who would give their lives for others.

This Morning, Arkansas State Trooper 1st Class Moomey hit a drunk driver head on, ON PURPOSE. The drunk was speeding the wrong way on the interstate, obviously posing a grave danger to others. The drunk driver died, the Trooper is barely hanging on. The trooper made a deliberate, informed decision to stop a threat despite a very low chance of survival for himself.

He quite literally put himself between innocents and a threat. The Hallsville Community and the Hallsville First Responders stand and salute you Arkansas State Trooper 1st Class Moomey for your sacrifice and heroism."

Do I like pushy people? No. Of course not. Nobody does.


As far as being a cop, sure some come off as asshats. This is also true of many, many, professions from teachers, to doctors, to the assistant manager as the Applebees. The biggest difference is the police often interject into our lives whether we want them to or not. We choose to interact with most professions as a willing participant to the interaction but the police don’t usually offer the opportunity to “opt out”. They can compel our cooperation. This is unique among society.


I can tell you this, meeting a cop as they hand me a ticket book is not ‘meeting a cop’. That’s being stopped by the police and it’s never fun. The cops I’ve met - like met in human-to-human interactions without the uniform tend to be very similar to the other professions we meet. The vast majority are fun, funny, level headed, and often times passionate supported of causes beyond their jobs. I see this in church, youth groups, little league, martial arts, and school groups. I also expect any of them catch me texting & driving to stop me and write me a ticket. That’s - quite literally - what we expect them to do.

With bad law enforcement, make sure you're aware of your rights, express them, and don't relent. I would have asked for a warrant. That said, with cops who just seems like they're just trying to do their job, and you haven't done anything wrong otherwise, I would let them do it, just to get it over with and make their life easier. Some people may not agree, and that's fine. But I aim for less headaches in my life where possible, and arguing with a police officer is more headache than I'm willing to tolerate in many cases. Unless they're dicks. Then I'm willing to put up a fight.

Pushy people. Especially sales people. Turn me off immediately. As for my experience with the police. I used to close bars after hours with police officers. Sometimes they were so drunk that they couldn’t stand up straight. But would sleep in their own cars for a little and then go to work. Then some would stop at a local garage and sleep it off!
As for the legal side. I pulled off the road when there were 3 police cars traveling the other way at NASCAR speeds. Two of them turned around and blocked my truck. They were looking for a bank robber. When they noticed that I wasn’t who they were looking for. They turned around and left. No apologies, I am sorry or have a better day!
Turns out that they were looking for an automobile with out of state plates. Not even a pickup truck!

I literally know hundreds of cops. The vast majority are good guys that want to serve their communities. There are a few who become cops because they got pushed around when they were kids and think a badge makes them tough.
