Or are you the type that pulls it a dozen times and nothing happens apart from you end up looking an idiot?

For the guy in the picture, one rip and he may never be ready again. 😎
I can usually handle a pull start machine. If it doesn't work after a few pulls, it's either out of gas, flooded, or the carburetor is broken. I can handle all of those.
First things first, that picture makes my nuts retract in terror just looking at it. Second of all, i used to be terrable at starting a weedeater when i was 10 years old and my dad wanted me to weadeat the yard. Since then i have progressed to being able to start a chainsaw like Chuck Berry.
ffs :D
I assume it could be an alternative version of gender change surgery or asexual reproduction (or how is it called in English... I don't trust Google translated it correctly) :D
Keep it maintained and it will start when asked. Yes.

You need to hold the throttle in the wide open position when pull starting. That way the engine will clear out the extra fuel that might have been flooding the engine and any obstruction that might be preventing the chain from turning!
Is this the new medical procedure for trans women?
I can do it but on boat motors it can be a pain in the ass sometimes. Some work but others you can yank on so long and it won't start.
The guy in the picture is definitely making a great effort and maybe a great sacrifice too :)
Most devices, yes. But I always have problems with the pull starts on women's vibrators. I always need them to get it going before I can use it on them.
It works so well in the morning when it's already rigid and revved up, even more so when a friend is there to use her tugging expertise to accelerate it !
I try and keep my power equipment well maintained. My stuff usually starts after 2 or 3 tries. with the new ethanol blends sometimes the carburetor gets clogged.
Well, the first time of the season it takes a few more tugs to get it going, but after that one tug is all it takes.
It’s all in the wrist action, some times you need to give it a quick spray, n then the wrist action kicks in.
I can try as long as it’s not gambling with my life or health
It's ''50/50''
I happen to meet motors every now and then that just won't do it.
Usually, careless maintenance is involved.
As for my lawnmowers both of them start on the first pull.
Do you ever use them at the same time?
@dustybiker2 Both of my lawnmowers are self propelled I’m sure I can MacGyver them & use them at the same time however I have never tried it.
I only ask because out of all of gag I would assume you might have.
😂 Love this!!
One or two pulls is all it takes for my Husqvarna push lawn mower
I had to at one of my old jobs. Every once in a while it would act up and my coworker would have to tug on it with his magic fingers
It depends on how old or how well the machine is tuned... funny picture by the way!!!
All my pull start equipment starts on just one pull. I take good care of my stuff
In general yes but 2 stroke motors are notoriously unreliable. After 3 failures it is time to take the spark plugs out and clean them up.
Are you talking about a rope to pull or a zipper?
:)
Usually one rip. But have an electric mower now, so it’s been a while…
OMG this made me spit my coffee out!
one time i could. but lost the use of my right arm
I can usually start my lawnmower in one pull and my chainsaw in five.
4-strokes, usually yes. 2-strokes, iffy.
Prime the engine. That's all.
one or two and it running sweet as nuts
Depends who I'm thinking about,
Nope
Go on 🍿 anyone?
