Why do some people act like they didn't understand a thing you just said just because you misspoke a certain word or spelt a certain word wrong?

I'm referring to both in real life and online here.

Like in a written response online, you can write a whole paragraph, like for example about pets and different types of pets, and in that paragraph you spelt everything correctly but accidentally spelt "kat" instead of "cat," and then the other person is like: "Hmmm what the fuck is a 'kat?" Is that a new animal? Or are you just a delusional retard?"

And in that particular case the "correction" is both extremely condescending and doesn't add anything to the discussion at hand.

For real life it probably won't be quite as condescending as it is online, but lets say for example you know a really weird guy who does nothing but watch sexualized anime (Japanese cartoons) all day, and you say something like: "Man that guy is so weird. I swear, all he does is watch sexualized cartoons all day." And then the other person is like: "Actually they're called ANIME! Not cartoons, you fucking retard!"

And it's like WHO THE FUCK CARES you still understand what I'm trying to say either way!

I don't know about you, but for me in general, as long as I understand what the other person is trying to say their grammar doesn't need to be 100% on point with not even one mistake. And for real life if I know what the person is talking about already there's no need to get super deep into the details and the specifics, cuz I already know what they're trying to say.

So people who do this are basically just being purposefully obtuse just to make themselves look smarter and you look dumber.
