The post upset many local women, and the club was forced to make a grovelling apology. But is it offensive or just tongue in cheek banter? Would you find it offensive if someone used the term "not for girls"

Hey! You may not remember me... but I sure remember you. It's nice to see you're still around. I've been gone for a couple of years. Are you maturing and mellowing as time passes? This is..., not weird; hilarious; absurd; dark; inappropriately sexual; offensive; or anything I've come to expect from you.
This is just a regular question. All... legitimate and topical and oh so very normal. I don't even know what to make of that. Did you become all grown up and serious since I've been gone? I really hope not.
So, it's meant tongue and cheek. But it's still an offensive thing to say because of the implications. "not for the girls" because...(some misogynistic reason like they couldn't handle such violence, or it would be too much for their delicate compositions)
Yea... you're an asshole if you say this as anything but a self-aware joke.
Good question (you better still be a weirdo. I found you amusing entertaining and occasionally insightful)
It's really good to see you still kickin around. 🙂
Don't worry I still churn out those weird questions
Thank god. Honestly, you do make me laugh.
It depends on the context. If it was just a little joke, you need to grow up and get thicker skin. If it wasn't meant as a joke and was just said offhand it's kind of still dated but I wouldn't say it's a big deal or worth making a fuss. If it was used in a harsh context as in to actively discourage woman from coming then it's getting into what the hell territory.
lmao...
in Poland, restaurants "not for kids under 16" are always fully reserved... but still criticized af :D
I think "not for xxx" is a negative way "only for xxx" sounds better :D
and no, I have no problem with that :D
If it's just a joke no, if it's said seriously it's very problematic.

Voted for dated attitude but no big deal.
For me personally it wouldn't be a big deal.
But I still think it's kinda dumb to go out with to begin with.
I don't think it's funny or appealing to say things like that.
I just don't care enough to be upset about it.
"The post upset many local women..." I wonder how many. Is the liberal media just hyping a few woke activists and trying to stir controversy?
I doubt if most women were offended. Why should they be? Men's rugby is definitely too rough for women to play. But lots of women like to watch real men.
Nah. Especially not with the amount of "not for the boys" that gets thrown around.
If I had a nickle for every time I've heard, seen, or otherwise witnessed a woman and/or business declare that something isn't for men and that it's only for the girls and gays; I'd be a very rich man.
Certainly dated, some sort of stereotypical cheap joke, bad taste, something like that. In itself, it doesn't sound like anything hurtful, but I can see a global effect when that kind of humour is repeated X times in a social environment
If find this slogan a little on the dumb side.
Not because of some newthink etiquette, but rather because apparently there were enough ladies who are interested to attend or to watch. It's pointless to miss the chance of selling additional tickets.
As for rugby as a ''sports'', I'd rather promote:
''not for the smarts'' :D
It’s just asking for people to misconstrue it for being a subliminal nod to the homosexual undertones of rugby. It doesn’t offend me and I see it for what they probably meant which is the game is going to be a contest between strong men with the implication that men are stronger than girls.
I can see how others could get offended by it though. Girls play rugby too.
The women that were offended had no intention of going anyway. This is just an opportunity to piss and moan. But they will also be the ones who say “it’s a girls night out”.
Not with that attitude 😞 and remember, a moan is a woman's pride 🙃😋
Please, that's nothing. I refer to "International Women's Day" as "Bitch Ass Ho's Day."
@douglas1180 Doug - with that cuddly display picture you hold those views? Crikey yikes, for shame 👀😋 turn that frown upside down 👎🏻 🙃
@douglas1180 especially when I at my age as a straight man enjoy - carebears 🧸
@NicholasRedone Do you even know anything about Squishmallows? My profile pic is Frumpy, and she's a huge bitch as ho.
@douglas1180 mines better as it's purple 💜
That is like G. O. L. F.
Gentleman Only, Ladies Forbidden!
That is what I heard somewhere.
I am a man so I am not hurt. I think this question should be asked to girls. As a female are you hurt?
It's sexist, but I wouldn't term it misogynistic, as I'd say "It ISN'T for the birds !!!"
They obviously didn't have their brain in gear, when they made the statement.
What I would like to know is "Many women were upset" How many is many?
At least 3
It's a dated attitude - and I feel offended 😉😨
And so I voted B for - cannot repeat
It's in the same vein as
People get offended by anything, DEI and stuff has made me simple not care. Doesn't matter.
it's only a matter of time before feminists demand the UFC be feminized too SMH
I tried convincing my sister to play rugby and she said the same thing.
Heads up 🏈
It's not offensive but stupid thing to say in a advertisement.
Certain people will take offense at literally anything these days.
It's not offensive.
They just need to download version 4.0.
Never apologize for telling the truth.
Woman are just as smart and capable as men
Not offensive, just banter
Hmmm
