1 yOne thing you need to do, is make sure your family members know you want to donate your organs. A LOT of hospitals, including the one I work at, won't consider a license "official" documentation, they'll seek a family member for official verification that those were your wishes.

Oh ok thank you for letting me know that!

Every state is different. The state I'm in, you have to actually register with the state as an "organ", some states will automatically register you when you get your license. They'll actually ask you when you get your license.

Can't remember if they asked me. I live in South Carolina so not sure how it works here.

I don't want them to just take anything and everything.12 Reply- 1 y
Yeah I should do that too.

Thanks
1.1K opinions shared on Other topic. When I first got my Driver's license. Yes, I put down that I would be a donor but then I found out that the donor's family has to pay for the operation that whatever you donated goes into and when I found that out I canceled it out that right now.

Family friendās son was 19. He lost control of his motorcycle
His mom to this day strongly believes he wasnāt given a chance. He arrived to the emergency room, was declared beyond repair and forms drawn up to start harvesting ābefore he diedā
i donāt think it is an appropriate amount of pain for someone to put their loved ones through - 1 y
@DreamCrescent That is a horrific story. I would not doubt it. There are people in need of organs that move to Florida because Florida does not have helmet laws and there are a lot more opportunities to get that kidney or heart than in other states.

Anonymous(18-24)1 yI saw that thing also, that if you're an organ donor you're more likely to "die" in an accident where you wouldn't have otherwise.

Whoa didn't hear about that. š³
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yF*** no! First off, with my stress and love of fried food I doubt any of my organs will be useable. Secondly, if I'm in some bad accident I don't want some surgeon in the O. R. looking at my donor card and then flipping a coin whether to rebuild me or part me out.
10 Reply775 opinions shared on Other topic. Absolutely I have and everyone should , it's been on my license for more than 30 years , for those who have not done so.. Do it ! immediately

1 yI said it earlier:
When the medical industry provides their services for free - then they can have my organs for free.
In other words: not going to happen.
20 Reply Maybe I should, what are you donating? @Simslover92

Whatever they need. I'll be dead so it really doesn't matter what they take.

That's not how it works here, but yes, I am registered as an organ donor, carry a donor card, and have informed my family of my wishes.

Iām an organ donor, I donāt care about my organs once Iām dead - plus I want to be cremated so they can harvest anything they want/need without worrying about me not looking pretty after lol. My mom is against it thoā¦10 Reply2.2K opinions shared on Other topic. Well no but that's cause everyone here automatically is unless you ask to be removed. So I'm on it.
10 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Other topic. I will definitely do if I'm over 50. Because no one wants organs of old people but old people need organs.
