Monaco, Singapore, Dubai, Switzerland should be in the list.
Hong Kong yes. Small island with lots of people. The Chinese drop prices up in HK after 1997.
Hong Kong residents moved to Vancouver and drove up the prices.
a domino effect with some other countries.
The housing market in Canada is so bad that more and more people are investing in tiny homes. Owning an actual full scale house is but just a long distance dream. 💭
For the average person, HK was outside the realm of possibility getting a downpayment for a place to live when I lived there 12 years ago. That more and more mainland Chinese are enterthe city only adds to the housing prices boom.
There is an island in Biscayne Bay (Miami) where the average house price is $14M.

In my mother's lifetime (she's 49), houses in San Jose were $10,000. Now they exact same houses built in the 1950s are $20 million, because of Silicon Valley. The zoning doesn't allow them to tear them down and build mansions. I'm surprised they didn't buy "the zoning" to make this possible.
Only place I'm familiar with on the map is Cheshire. It's an expensive county over all and the part it refers to is known as the golden triangle.
There's more to Europe than the UK alone. I'd like to see where Paris and Zurich are on this map or list.
Zurich has massive average income like 150-200k a year so a million average house isn't in the top 20
not sure about Paris
@jamesgoldman I have a cousin who's been living in Switzerland for 30 years now. Yes, wages are 3 times higher than in your average European country. So is going to a restaurant, a movie theater, anything related to leisure, food...
Yeah look at Monaco for insanity
I'm not an expert, but they seem to be the most unaffordable.
looks about right the west cost is pretty bad in general.
In Hong Kong the houses are probably cheap but tha average salary is 60 cents a day.
You should seriously consider going out into the real world more.

Should have listen to me few years back. Oh well.
I'm surprised Chicago isn't on there.
The top two choices make perfect sense.
Most of the most unaffordable cities in the U. S. are in California.
