I asked because somebody else said that nobody wants to work but they have to and I think this is true for many people. But for some of us myself included our work brings meaning and joy to our lives. What do you think about this?

Absolutely. While earning a paycheck is important, nursing has given my life a sense of purpose that goes far beyond money. Every shift is different, and even on the hardest days, I know that my work can make a real difference in someone's life. Whether it's comforting a scared patient, helping someone recover, or simply being there to listen when they need support, those moments remind me why I chose this profession.
Being a registered nurse has also taught me patience, resilience, and compassion. I've met people from every walk of life and have been there for some of their happiest moments as well as some of their most difficult ones. Those experiences have changed the way I look at people and have made me appreciate my own health, family, and relationships even more.
Of course, nursing can be physically and emotionally exhausting, and there are days when I come home completely drained. But despite the challenges, I can't imagine doing work that didn't involve caring for others. Knowing that I can ease someone's pain, provide reassurance, or simply make a difficult day a little easier gives my career a level of meaning that extends well beyond earning a living.
I know exactly what you're talking about. Being in health care makes my life worth living. We should write a book and title it something like "The Joy of Health Care". Seriously.
Yeah, I can't say I chose my career path because it was meaningful to me. But somehow, maybe subconsciously, I steered myself into areas of finance that are actually fun and meaningful to me. Now I can pick and choose what projects I get involved in and what projects I pass on. It's a luxury I realize not many people have.
My job is not inherently fulfilling. Knowing that a very small percentage of people can do what i do and even fewer can do it as well as i do is very meaningful to me.
What is it that you do?
Yes, I love meeting people, and I meet new people every single day. I love human interaction.
I love my business, and being passive I manage to get best of both worlds can do as much or as little as I wish , mostly it's little..
According to the higher ups in my company we should take pride in our work because we feed the world. Without us the world starves.
But I like my job because I like working with me hands.
I'm self-employed
I'm never happier than when I've got gold and silver to handle
Before I lost the ability to walk correctly. I used to believe that life/existence has a twisted sense of humor.. Holy shit was I wrong! The truth is that everything you, I, and everyone else has witnessed dosen't
No. It’s the opposite, it sucks the joy and meaning out of life.
What kind of job is that bad?
Every single one I’ve had.
I'm sorry to hear that. What kind of jobs do you usually have?
