Ladies: Is it not manly to drive an automatic car?

So, I drive an automatic car, just because it's easier and very rarely am I out in conditions (off wheel drive, adverse weather conditions) where a stick shift might be needed. Plus, I just feel like automatic is less stressful. You don't have to worry about the car stalling or switching in and out of gears. You can just drive.

But there's someone I know who says it's not a manly thing to drive automatic cars. He says "real men drive stick shift." Just wanted to see what you all thought.

This is my personal opinon.

I don't think being a man is validated by wheather you drive a stick shift or a manuual car. All that truly matters if if you can drive safely in both situations.

And whoever that guy was that said that "driving a stick shift is for real men" probably would know about "sticks" wouldn't he? I'm joking, I'm joking, Lol XD.

I think that you are more of a man by driving what makes YOU feel comfortable WHEN you feel comfortable.

i think only like 6% of cars today are stick shift. I know because I'm trying to learn and can't find one anywhere! my ex and his brothers all drove stick. its a cool skill. but not related to manlyness. perhaps you could just learn how to drive stick just in case you need to. then youve got the manly skill covered without the stress of doing it every day.

I don't think I would even notice and if I did I probably wouldn't care too much. I may think its cool, but only because I don't know how to drive a stick, not because I think it is more manly.

I have had both sticks and automatics. I also used to do field consulting with both types of cars. Sticks are fun but in a car that is my daily driver, give me an automatic any day of the week. Sit in traffic for a couple of hours with a stick and you will think the same thing. Plus, when I hurt my back, I couldn't work the clutch (couldn't lift my leg high enough) so I had to drive my wife's car anyway.

i drive stick and I'd think it was cool if he drove stick too but I'm not too bothered by it or anything
