Hey ladies, what kind of music do you like to hear guys play?

Question

So I've been playing guitar for 7 years now and have been singing since I watched my first Disney Movie (haha). Basically no songs are "too hard" and I am above average vocally. I've always used this to my advantage in meeting new people, especially girls. The type of music that I play a lot of are artists like Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Jack Johnson. I also play the occasional NSYNC, Michael Bublé, Jonas Brothers and sometimes even some rap. So I'm very open to all types.

Knowing all of that, I pose two questions to the ladies here on GAG.

1)What types of music (i.e. artist/song/genre) do you like to hear a guy play, whether you know him or are just walking through the hallway and you hear him playing? What's "attractive" and what's cool/fun?

2)What songs would you like to hear a guy play FOR/TO you? Again, artist/songs/genre. Besides, of course, the songs with meaning, like what was playing when you first met.

Well, since I like rock (and subcategories), I'd prefer if a guy played me that type of music :3 It can be indie, an acoustic cover of some rock song I really like, etc :3

and if I had a boyfriend singing me a song, I would love it so much if they played "running from lions" by all time low. It's one of my favorite songs, and I'd be sure to let him know, haha.

Also, "You Had Me At Hello" by A Day To Remember, Jesus Christ by Brand New, and "You Be The Anchor" by Mayday Parade would be lovely songs to hear :3

...Then again, most people don't know these songs, so it depends on the person .___.

R&B like in "unpretty" by TLC..wish there were more black artists that played insturments or had bands :\...Earth Wind &Fire was long ago but still are loved :)..I'm talking about the U.S. I'm not sure about other places but I like Carribean and African music...if you know spanish another good band is Aventura- "obession".

If you taught yourself guitar how long did it take? My high school doesn't have a class for it and I don't want lessons.I can read flute music but I don't think the notes are similar.

Heres one thing.  If you taught yourself guitar and whatnot,  play music that you enjoy yourself or connect to on a personal basis.  Don't base what you sing on what girls like or what is hip these days.  If it has an emotional value to you it will connect with many other people.  I've been classic trained with guitar for about 2-3years from a teacher and now on my own for a couple years, some people really hate Seether, but I love playing and singing shaun morgans' songs.  They are very haunting and show what he's been through.

Personally, and I might be in a very small minority here, but I think covers (even if you're just sitting around playing in a park or busking) are cheesy. That doesn't apply if you can interpret and change the music to make it your own. Otherwise, I'd try to stick to original stuff, funny comedic stuff (everyone loves to laugh) and if you must do covers, pick obscure stuff from weird genres. I'm thinking about O.C.M.S., Sigur Ròs, The Big Pink, pretty much anything most people haven't heard yet will enjoy anyways.

I'd say just do your own thing and f*** what girls want to hear.

It's just my opinion but I question a person's authenticity when they're playing music, and they not only toot their own ass but then want to try and use it to seduce women.

Music can be such a real yet intangible and wonderful thing that tickles hearts and testicles alike. It would be a shame if all you did with it was learn hack four chord pop Jack Johnson tunes just to seduce a girl.

tbh I think this whole direction of your question is wrong. You can't make music that's meaningful to you that's based on other peoples tastes, its gotta be what you like and NOT just for girls. someone asked a similar question about what color of a car to buy to get laides... really lame and a terrible idea(not only that but itl never work with taht kind of agenda)

Also try having your own rendition of songs of female artists. Say, for example, Thinking of you and ET by Katy Perry.

Your own version of a song originally intended for a female voice would be a challenge to do, but it would be worth it if you succeed on it. :) A guy's voice on a particular set of lyrics just gives a whole new meaning to it sometimes. Well, just saying. ;)

love songs of course :P but pop songs or popular songs are cool too because everyone knows it but also if a  girl is into a specific genre like I am with alternative music it would be coool if a guy would play an inde rock song from the band hellogoodbye but that's just me personally

Actually I am a music lover, I listen to music everyday :-) I like various types of music, I like sing, dancing , and can play some instrument. I also learnt some guitar :-)
