I would without hesitation give my jacket to a girl. Especially if I like her. But even if it is just a friend, I would put my jacket on her. I really don't mind the cold, it hardly ever gets to me, so it really doesn't phase me if I have a jacket on or not. I live in Wisconsin where it gets bitter cold all the time, so this actually happens pretty often.
But yea, usually I will ask the girl if she wants my jacket. If she says yes, then I'll hand it over. If she says no, then I will take it off and put it on her, so she really doesn't have a choice =P
Well it's just about the most gentlemen thing to do. We want to protect those we love, and it hurts us to see the girl we like, shivering in the cold. I'd rather be the one freezing my ass off and catching a cold, because guys can take it. Guys are supposed to take it, even if they can't lol.
I think that compromising in that situation would be sweeter... he can just hold me close inside his jacket and we can both stay warm. =)

Way I was raised: Women should never ask for a guy's jacket. But they should never have to. Just the way it is, hold open doors, offer up your bus seat, give up your jacket. Obviously much easier when it's your SO or crush or something but just a general guideline.
Course I was also raised in the south.
i offer it cause its the me thing to do, not cause its the polite or gentlemanly thing to do.
and I like it when they take it and look all cute with my bigass jacket on them.

its just the way it is. from the midwest and I was raised to do the right thing too. personally I don't really care for it but I will still give a girl my jacket if she's cold & ill suffer
