The motives are different for everyone.
Some people do have the means to support a child and the will to make the child grow into someone successful, indepedent and well off in life.
Many people have children for less than noble reasons, such as because of unprotected sex and the like.
Keep in mind that countries like Africa and India don't have Social Security. And also the disease rates are high there. So people want to have 5 kids there. Because in 30 years, they're going to be old and weak, and there is no government assistance or pension plans over there, so they need their children to take care of them. And also, because of the mortality rates. 3 of those 5 kids could die.

What's not to understand? Most people of reproductive age don't think very well. And as far as the lulzy commentary about declining birth rates in developed countries: you can rest assured the quota will be met and blown apart by everyone else and by immigration. This will be especially true when some countries start getting hit with the real deal of global warming in the coming decades. People fail to understand how fragile the line is between order and chaos when it becomes acceptable to live right on that line. And ignorance won't be an excuse for what's to come.
It does get pretty depressing when you jump on that common sense train. But people can be short-sighted, egotistical, and selfish. If I had childrne (because I'm selfish, I admit it) it would be for the experience of the bond between parent and child/family, for the opportunity to try and instill a little respect and common sense in a person. The parenting I see these days kind of disgusts me. But if I was unable to find a suitable partner, then I wouldn't bother. It's either do it right or don't do it at all.
I understand. I remember when married couples used to have one for two children, and now unmarried couples want to have 3-4 and then break up and the children have to be in the middle.
It's crazy how everyone is so obsessed about reproducing like if it's going to make a difference. Yeah, it will make a difference, like over populating and things getting worse. But I think it would all be okay if people knew how to raise children.
I agree with the other comments, one or two is enough! honestly, the people who SHOULDN'T be procreating are the ones having 5+ kids...i dunno...this world is backwards :P

It's already been answered correctly and displayed through stupid answers by some other answers in this same question. People are dumb animals... that talk - at least the ones breeding like crazy are.
With that said, there is nothing wrong with the right people having children, in fact that actually helps. Too bad they're not having them as much as the wrong people. You realize every developed country is facing economic ruin due to collapsing birth rates, right?
I agree that the population is getting out of hand, but in terms of the environment
mankind will die out and eventually so will the Earth, it's impossible to preventblame it on biological imperative. We have a need to procreate. I did limit it to two kids...do I get a cookie for that or anything? ;P
People experience the world in their own way. Obviously most people experience it in a different way than you..
I blame the stupid Democrats.
You must be athiest...
People desire children. Deal with it.
