He said "I'll hit you up later". What does this mean?

I called a guy I know from work to see how he was doing. I found out someone passed in his family and he went to the funeral. He also went to work once he got back from work. he talked to me for at least 5 to 10 minutes. then he said I'll hit you up later. what does this mean? was this a brush off?

no honey not at all. that was very nice of you to take the time to check in with your co-worker. I'm sure he appreciates that. and well sometimes funerals can be tough and not everyone wants to open up and/or discuss how they're doing at a time like that. he sounds like he's trying to stay busy and take care the best he can. he'll talk to you when he's ready. again that was very nice of you to contact him. so no worries :o)
