Ladies.. if a guy holds eye contact and smile at you .. do you think of him as a creep?

Basically, I read everywhere that if you want to show interest in a lady in a public place then one should smile and hold eye contact for couple of seconds.

I have no major problems with eye contact. But I feel that smiling would make me look like a creep. I am trying to find out why am I thinking this way .. ? May be I think I have an ugly smile? or that I am ugly? I am a well dressed , accountant , athletic , average looking guy.

I can't help the feeling that if I smile , I will be automatically branded as a creep. Specially if I show my teeth ( I don't think my teeth are ugly btw.. they are normal )

does anybody have the same problem ? ladies.. do you think that if a guy holds eye contact and smiles at you is a creep? And when we talk about smiling .. does it mean showing teeth or not ?

If you don't feel comfortable smiling that is OK...a slight nod would not be out of the question...some form of acknowledgement...you are right about eye contact...if she is interested she will return the eye contact...watch her body language...is she closed up?(crossing her arms in front of her, looking down or away, turn body away from you) if these are evident then move along she is not interested.(she's not just shy)...now if she turns to face you (doesn't have to be looking at you) is talking to her friends, seeming to have a good time...making eye contact...then for goodness sake make a move...don't wait to long because the longer you wait the less likely she will be to respond to you...if you have noticed her dancing then by all means ask her to dance...its a good way to get close without being creepy...and watch the hands, keep it clean...I know that you see others being grabby but any girl with a little class is not going to respond...I hope this has helped you some...let me know how it goes~*~

It really depends when I get older guys like 15 years older then me and they do that it creeps me out a lil.. lol.. but if he is around my age or at least looks it, it is freakn HOT!. ;)

If a guy is just staring and smiling at me without any intentions of saying hello or anything it is creepy.

Thanks for your answer. Ofcourse if he doesn't do anything then this is creepy. Ofcourse I would folow up with saying hello and introducing my self. What I mean here if the ''smile itself'' is creepy.
