What's your opinion about blunt women?

One of my co workers (a guy) said he doesn't like me because women shouldn't be blunt. I asked why and he said because it's not attractive and it's intimidating. Would you think the same if a girl was blunt with you? I'm not a rude blunt either, I always warn people before I'm blunt with them. Is being blunt unattractive?

Blunt was probably the wrong word to use. I'm more straight forwards than I am blunt. I try not to be rude when I'm speaking my mind and I tell the person that I'm about to voice my opinion beforehand. I have restraint with what I say.

most of the time being blunt is a major turn off. but that is completely different than strait forward. most of the time a blunt girl will come off a a grumpy girl who doesn't have very good social skills (not saying that is you, just that's my experience with girls.) here is an example I walk up to a girl and start a convo, and lets say we reach a subject she doesn't like and she simply says "i don't care about that. talk about something else" that is a huge turn off, and tells the guys that you don't know how the conversant, and are trying to boss him around. the second thought is one of the big problems, guys don't like to get bossed around, and blunt women usually come off as bossy. and it doesn't matter if you warn them before. if I warned you before slapping you it doesn't make the slap ok.

now if you are just strait forward and changing a subject by just saying "hey can we talk about something else" there is nothing wrong with that to a guy. so you can judge your bluntness off of which speaking stile you fit better.

Yeah, I'm not that blunt. I'm more of the straight forwards type but I will warn the person before I come out and say what I wanted to say.

yeah he can just be a wimp and is cowering in your confidence. just make sure you don't come off bossy, that is what makes bluntness unattractive, not the honesty part of it.

I'm not bossy. I just tell him my opinion without sugar coating it, I don't really tell people what to do.

well then you are using the wrong word to describe yourself. a blunt women is always unattractive. but a strait forward one is actually the opposite, I love it when girls mean what they say.

It depends on what you mean by blunt, and this doesn't apply just to women. In my opinion people who are blunt are just too lazy to use a filter. They justify the things they say with "well, it's true". Just because something is true does not mean it's OK to say it. If we all expressed every thought we had about someone just because it was true, it would be a really f***ed up world.

Blunt people are like those who don't get vaccinations. They can get away with it because everyone else follows the rules so the world can remain acceptably healthy despite those people's "laziness". That applies to both men and women.

It's usually unattractive. The harsh truth is that most people nowadays prefer liars and diplomats. A pretty lie is always better than a harsh truth. Don't worry about that though. I'm a very blunt person too and I learned not to care much about what other people say. They believe it's bad and unattractive? I don't mind, to each their own. Personally, I believe it's an attractive quality. I wish more people were honest, straight-forward and blunt with me. When someone tells me a harsh truth about me, I suck it up and admire their straight-forwardness. It's better to have people who always tell you what's on their mind, than people who embellish everything with lies and pretenses around you.

i think people especially should be blunt. they p**** foot around things too much trying to be pleasing.its annoying. it ends up wasting time which ultimately isDIS respectful. not the other way around.

as for women shouldn't guys should.. we all have the right todo w/e anyone else has the right to do. in the western world anyways. there are -ostensibly- no rights one adult has that another dies not. so there's no reason for him to condemn someone for doing something he thinks has the right to do. that guy is conveniently prejudiced.

As long as it isn't rude then I don't see the problem. I don't know why some guys think it's wrong for a woman to be honest and speak their minds. We have the right to speak out minds like guys do. It's like just get straight to the point.

I have less problems with it than most but then I have a tendency toward it as well. I've learned to be a lot more careful and diplomatic about how I say things. That is to say that a similar personality is more likely to accept this in you. Do you like it when guys are blunt with you? If you have a problem with that, you really will need to learn to moderate what you say. No one can afford to exercise a practice that they don't tolerate in return.
