Ironically, these same girls who get wined and dined end up not dating the guy who's paying for the date. What is the point of dating for a man? Whether it is to get married or enter a relationship or to have fun, the end goal is to have sex. It would be quite a poor investment to spend an elaborate amount of money just so that girl says, "I don't think there is any chemistry between us." Additionally, men do not owe these women anything. We don't. To say that we owe them or are obligated means these women are second class citizens. I understand customs and courtesies. Fine, if you want to stand up when a woman leaves the table or open the door for her, that won't cost you anything. Any more than buying her drinks is just a waste.
I couldn't agree with you more! My dad used to open the car door for my mum every time they used to go out. He did it for 38 years until the day she died. I think these small kinds of thoughful acts in a relationship, lets the other person know that you appreciate them, and enjoy their company!.
Seriously, what's up with the down votes. She used to return the acts of kindness by waiting at our post box with a cold drink on hot days (he was a postman and delivered to our area), and have lunch waiting at home for him. These small things show a person that you appreciate them.
I think it's mainly an American thing. I am from Europe and I expect chivalary. I want my man to have manners and treat me like he really wants me. At least on the first dates that's important. I in return am feminine and tread him like a man should be treated.

Lol well this is new. I grew up in a household where my mother was the breadwinner and my father worked on and off and cooked and took care of us during the week, he didn't clean much my mother and us children mostly did that. So i guess i had my 'roles' confused from the start. Long term wise a man who wants to take care of you is nice and appreciated but i think paying as well shows you want to take care of him too. I definitely dont want a cheap man, but i dont want a man thinking he should always pay and i can't or won't take care of him. And i also dont want a husband who thinks i should do everything around the house either.
I came from a similar household, here. To this day, I am still confused by everyone's noises on the subject.
As a kid I was always confused when people would be like
"you should open the door for her. Any real man would open a girl's doors"
"Opening doors isn't that hard, does she really need help with that?"
*gasp* "What kind of man are you?"
I don't know, the kind of man who didn't think of girls any differently?
"You mean you don't pay for all your girlfriends' meals? What a cheap bastard!"
I always found this one funny. If I am cheap for not buying someone meals they are perfectly capable of paying for themselves, then what does that make THEM? They are offended that they have to spend their own money on their own food!
I am not against generosity, to be sure. But I hold women to a standard of being adults. They want to be judged for their personality, no?
This is a really unique myTake. I agree with some of the things however I love paying for some dates and taking the guy out to somewhere I want to show him. If a guy paid for all of our dates I would feel awful and start probably avoiding the dates that cost money. That being said, the last paragraph, opening the door and pulling out her chair is so sweet. The rest I'm not fussed with and would actually prefer to park the car and walk to the venue with him. I have something to add to it though. I've made a rule to myself that if a guy is picking me up for a date and he just honks from across the road I won't come out. I think any gentlemen would come to the door.
"Under no circumstances at all should the woman pay for ANY date, certainly not the first, regardless of who did the asking to begin with." Nope. avi Why should I pay?
I may be exagerating with this clip, but this is what your Take makes me think of...
shut up social justice warrior. women should pay if they want equal rights. they aren't able to ask for shit when it's only convenient for them. the person who asks the other person out on 1st and maybe 2nd/3rd dates should pay. after that, it's split. i'm more than willing to do shit for women, but i'm not gonna be a bitch made fuckboy.
Chivalry is not dead, it is just completely different from what it was even 20 years ago, with techological developments, trends and eras coming and going, changes in culture, and more regulations supporting gender equality. chivalry is about mutual respect that visibly displays your appreciation and willingness to nurture one another. Nobody can tell you how to do it, and no way is for for certain to be set in stone. I personally am going to pull out a seat and open my car door for my girl though, because every woman I've ever been with has absolutely loved it.
I don't know about some of this. I mean I open and hold doors for anyone regardless of their gender. As for rising when she arrives or leaves a table, pulling out a chair or opening car door or dropping her off at a door is bullshit. I mean she is perfectly capable of all those without me. As for paying for a date I think that pends on who asked who. I'd rather pay for it all on the first date, but if she asked me out then I'd be willing to split the cost. There is no way though I would ever let a girl pay for the entire first date. That being said if I had to pay for every date in full without her occasionally offering to pay her share or for it entirely, I wouldn't be happy and for certain end the relationship.
Men should pay for the date if the girls don't have any income. Otherwise Fuck Off girls. If the girls have money and don't pay for the dates, then they should be considered as leeches.
Also don't teach us to do chivalry!! Women are not limps or disabled people. They have hands and legs. They can open the door & can pull the chair for themselves too.
I am against all these stupid respect people give to women because they have a vagina.
While I believe that having my meal paid for is a nice gesture, I don't think that any one party needs to be doing it all of the time. It's generous to pay for someone else - why would you not want to accept that gift?
I don't particularly like being put on a pedestal. There's so much farther to fall, that way. I would much prefer to be your partner and your equal than your queen.
So by this you are still showing women to be the weaker sex. That was idea the take of chivalry towards women when it was developed and it held true til around the late 19th century.
If you actually read a book on chivalry it talks about what on should do in combat and the proper care of one's horse, with like a paragraph or two about how one should treat a lady.
LMAO take yo pussy begging SIMP mangina-ing phagget ass back to the 1950's where you belong. Cuz it's pretty obvious that you don't belong in this decade with these outdated BS. Ya know since women aren't considered to be "damsels in distresses" nor "expected if not forced to be stay at home moms" anymore.. 😂😂😂 i1127.photobucket.com/.../...non-believers-out.gif
@justbanANNAz Naw #Phoenix98 isn't a freak nor are you (both of y'all have the traditional mindset if I remember right ^_^)
I mean I show "common courtesy" to everyone (men and women alike) not only be chivalrous to women. While having ulterior motives for doing so, like the pseudo gentlemen/nice guys of the world π π
To me, this BS was written in a sexist 1950's kiss her ass kinda way (which rubbed me wrongπ«π«). But I wonder does he do the same thing for guys?
Ya know when it comes to holding the door, paying their way... if and when he invited them out? Give up his seat to a guy with a bad leg etc?
@justbanANNAz Oh, I only mentioned him because he's another GAGer that I'm cool with who's also traditional. But yeah I didn't tag him on purpose... cuz I'm sure that does get annoying for you/yall ππ.
I do give it to everyone (common courtesy) not just women only (chivalry) ^_^.
I like your avatar. Chairman Obama to liberate the oppressed masses from tyrannical oppression.
I like this take even more. Feminism won't ever replace what is in the hearts of almost every woman, the desire to be taken care of, provided for, loved, and respected. Feminists hate it when men do this because it would force them to become honorable women: Of which most are wholly incapable of being.
I hate when people get chivalry and gentlemanliness mixed up. Chilvary pertains to midevil fighting. Like how to be honourable and so forth. Yes part of it was being nice to ladies, but it was not the main point. Now being a gentleman on the other hand is different. This is what pertains to the rules of treating women. It is the sole way men should act. Most men do not even know any rules on how to be a gentleman any more and it sadens me.
All the feminists, egalitarians and social justice pricks... oh boy... everybody is full of shit... Everybody wants to outdo each other in how much shit they are full of... And then there's me... Realer than real but can't solve the tiny problem of finding a real girl to even date me by mistake...
There's no set of rules that work for everyone. People have their own way, individually. Money, standards and 'doing what your supposed to' block the free flow of spirit. If it's real love, do as your heart says.

Simple, you support sexism.

You wouldn't be here without a woman
@buttheadkakakak You forgot to mention my father's semen/sperm.
You completely missed the point
@buttheadkakakak Teach me.
I shouldn't have to, it's easy to understand π

I think OP is thinking of "courtly love."
@Transigence Yeah, those seem to get mixed up.
Um... unlike back in the old days, women have their own earned income now.
Why shouldn't they pay? The lack of a woman having her own earned income is where that idea of "the man paying for the date" came from!
Hit the nail on the head here.

ok im kinda sick of people mentioning him everywhere i go tbh. i don't get y y'all do that, it isn't funny.
i dont c y common decency can't be given to everyone, but whatever.

"The science behind chivalry cannot be denied. Women want to be treated like a queen, and men want to have a queen by their sides."
Would you mind telling me in which scientific journal were these studies publicized? I wuld be very interested in reading them :)

What's with all these white knight troll takes? You wouldn't know chivalry if it came galloping up and chopped your head off.
Ouch! You know a chivalrous knight could not do that. He would not even be worthy of the blade touching him.
