Valentine's Day Guide for Singles

As Valentine’s Day nears, we single pringles might feel lonelier and more pressured to date than ever. Many of us might use this annual holiday as an excuse to cuddle up on the couch with a tub of Ben and Jerry’s and binge on Netflix post-breakup style.

And when people all over the world are making love, having romantic candlelit dinners, professing their love to each other, and even proposing, it’s certainly understandable to feel a bit left out. It’s totally OK; hell it’s NORMAL.

But just remember this: it is fine to be single on Valentine’s day. Even if you don’t want to be, even if people call you an old maid, even if you feel pathetic, even if you’re 20 or 30 or 40. Whether you just went through a nasty breakup or you’ve been single every year of your life. IT.IS.OK.

Because as cliché as it sounds, you are awesome. You aren’t pathetic just because you’re single and you’re not awesome just because you’re in a relationship. WE’RE ALL AWESOME. And Valentine’s Day isn’t about heart-shaped candies, or chocolates, or overstuffed teddy bears. It’s about love, so take time to love yourself and someone else this February 14th whether you’re single or not.

Go buy a little black dress that hugs you in all the right places, take your dog to the park, hit up Walmart for some sweet deals on candy. Swing by Dairy Queen and get a Singles Blizzard; go to Starbucks and buy your favorite frappe and shoot, why not pay for the person behind you too? Show some love and find a way to enjoy your Valentine’s day whether you’re dating, engaged, married, or Han Solo :D

Shoot, you don’t even HAVE to celebrate if you don’t feel like it! After all, it’s just another day.
