Pros and Cons of Having Friends of the Other Gender

Hey guys, this Mytake was written from a girl who has 2 best guy friends, 2 best girl friends and the rest of my friends are pretty much guys. So this is from experience (at least 3 years experience).

Pros:

1. New Hobbies and Interests

The other gender often has a different view on what they think is interesting and not so this can open some new doors to some new hobbies and interests.

2. You get a view of what it's like being the other gender.

3. They are an emergency date.

That is if they don't have a date either

4.They (try) can help you with your problems in your love life.

5. One of you could end up liking each other.

This could end up resulting into a relationship and who wouldn't wanna be in a relationship with their best friend?

6. They can introduce you to their friends.

7. They are the perfect fake boyfriend/girlfriend.

They already know everything about you and already have a connection and you guys can make contact without being awkward.

8. Less drama (that you're involved in at least).

Cons:

1. People would think your together or want you to be together.

This statement is so annoying, especially when you hear it often and if your best friend is like a brother/sister now. Can’t a guy and a girl be friends without it having to become romantic? My answer is yes, If you wanna fite about this I'm free to fite with you right.

2. One of you could end up liking each other.

This is also a con because you could end up ruining your relationship

I like being able to ask blunt questions about sex stuff, I mean they usually have shit dating advice but the sex advice is often decent, if you can get them to open up and not be shy. Also I like being around women when there is no sexual vibes involved, I can let go in ways I normally wouldn't around other women.

lol i have a problem with the use of "bestfriend" in this kind of context, but anyway... i completely disagree with everything except 2 and 5 under pros... in reality, the other pros and cons can apply to friends of the same sex... i think that except for the 2 reasons that i agree with, those reasons are not subject to "bestfriends" of the opposite gender

but yea
-the pressure of if its love or lust
-sexual tension is constant
-dealing with that "time of the month"
-When they get relationships, having to split your time with some other cunt dude/dudette
-Him wanting to hang with the fellas to get away from feminine drama
-She wanting to hang with the girls because he ain't listening
-He deals with the constant emotion change
-she deals with his complete indifference.
-Interests aren't aligned... can't do the same shit you would do with the same gender.

This raises a number of good issues, both to think about, and some for practical use. Winding up liking the friend, or vice versa, could be a real problem, especially if you are already in a relationship.

Don't forget if your parents find out, they might give you the talk and say that all boys are untrustworthy and irresponsible. It's a blanket statement that holds at least some truth but still.

Pro point n°3 and n°5 (c'mon, you even admit it below) are amazing ways of screwing up the friendship.
As for n°8, fi you're scared of drama it means you're immature.

It's really better to make friendship with people you definitely can't see a romantic future with as well as they with you. Be it because of distance or compatibility issues.
