Being handsome or beautiful is not something like most people think

If you are really handsome or beautiful you are doomed for loneliness.

I'm not talking about finding girlfriend or boyfriend i'm talking about friendship.

When you are handsome most of your guy friends will be really jealous about you. They won't invite you places where they go most of the time. They will always try to bring your confidence level down, they will always be on attack mode about you, they will always try to find your weak spot to bring you down so they can be better than you. So they can get the girls not you. They will always play games behind you.

I don't know maybe there are good people in this world but it's hard to find them.

Being handsome and smart guy is a lonely way of living.

You will always be target for other men. They will feel insecure beside you so they will do anything to destroy your self-esteem.

When you are handsome or beautiful you can see the truth in people, how they react differently to you than others.

Men will hate you for all your life and women will smile and be nice to you for no reason. You will rarely have friends, you will always be on the hot spot.

If you are naive and nice you won't think bad about people and the things they say will make you sad and insecure because you will believe them and care them but after then you will learn and see the truth. Why they do what they do. And you will get used to it and learn to not care and be happy with yourself.

I've been compared to Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor & Shirley Temple by complete strangers & a theatre actress with 30+ years’ experience. Not to mention I look a lot like a relative (Meg Ryan) in her youth. In university, I was approached by two separate modeling agencies and turned down both because my mother knew a supermodel & let's put it this way their life isn't glamorous.

I just don’t turn one head I turn crowds of heads as mum pointed out last year when we were Christmas shopping and a bunch of guys walked by, every single of them turned to look back. That’s without makeup by the way as being a ‘natural beauty’ I’ve never needed it & I’ve far too much self-respect to dress in revealing clothes.

I’ve no problem having friends – and I’ve never encountered a guy who is jealous or intimidated, and would never waste my time on a guy who sees being my boyfriend as a stroke to his sorry ego – because I have never once allowed my appearance to go to my head. I am not a low-self-esteem individual who needs my ego stroked. I am a friendly & outgoing individual and I treat people exactly – no matter if they’re attractive or “ugly” – how I want to be treated. It’s why I get a LOT of respect from people.

So, no there’s really nothing to being a decent non-egotistical very attractive/beautiful person. The people who have problems are those who let their “beauty” get to their heads & end up with overinflated egos.

This might sound vulgar but this is why we find other handsome men to hang out with and form friendships with. Especially if we go out on the town. No joke, it's genuinely important. Shallow as it sounds. I was lucky to find friends who are also good hearted and intellectual.

And frankly, the looks do play a part in shaping our outlook and helping us bond on.

We struggle with women for the same reasons. Too many options, too many demands that women have of us.

"Attention! Always be there! Emotional support! Sacrifice! Romance!'

Because we are good looking we are unwilling to secede to those demands because we don't need to, and so we miss out on that romantic experience.

Or otherwise form a bond based on his cuckold fetish. As vulgar as it sounds, it has happened to me that a couple used me as an instrument in their sexual fantasy.

You gotta set boundaries, dude. If you see passive aggression from guys (which I suppose you do), be more dominant yourself. Backstabbing, betrayals and jealousy will be common among your peers but learn not to give fucks. You know you have won when people can't say it on your face but choose to backtab you. Don't let it go through your head. If it comes let it, if it goes let it. Don't rely on the darker side of it tho. It maybe hard for you if you have newly realized it but there is a brighter side to it too 😉.

As teens we used to have a saying: "that's why she's with her fat friend."

I stand out in a crowd, certainly. Especially if I actually put work into my prep. Which takes it from 15 minutes to an hour and a half. However, I've not experienced the situation you describe; quite the reverse. I've had friends that looked like celebrities and we would always go places as a group just because we knew someone was getting a phone number and it didn't matter who.

On the female side, I don't agree that I get "more" attention like that. I did before I turned, say, 30 or so. Not so much as I've gotten older, but that's because with older women, they're not sitting around eyeing out for dudes like young women do.

So this again feels like one of those age-specific observations.

I totally agree with this. Thank you for sharing and saying what many of us know and deal with secretly. I am so tired of people judging me on my looks. I get attention from guys- wrong attention and not taken seriously and women think I am after their guys. When I do reveal my inner self- I am intimidating as heck to men. They like the challenge at first and women just compare me to themselves and think of me as too above them and they not worthy of my friendship. I don’t mean that to sound egotistical. I have had people tell me this to me face. All I can say back is ‘ thank you for your honesty’. Golly it’s a lonely world.

I know what you mean, but if people are intimidated by their friend's handsomeness or beauty, then that just says they have self confidence issues. Life is too short to waste on those types of people. Nowadays, it's really easy to connect with others who share the same interests and have self respect to not put down others. Why hang out with punks when you can find a basketball team to play with, or make some friends at the gym or at the park?

I haven't found that true at all. The VGL guys I have known either have lots of friends because they have a good personality, or don't because they are shallow a-holes. Or somewhere in between. Either way, their looks don't greatly effect their relationships with guys (except gay dudes who drool over them I guess). It is just a lot easier for them to get women.

And other guys don't feel insecure, but instead enjoy the females who flock around.

At age 19 this must be a Gen Y thing. Growing up as a Gen X'er, I never felt animos toward "handsome" men. I have seen the behaviour you describe between women often enough however.
