Why guys go for younger women? I have a theory.

My theory is that in today's society there seems to be a trend of single parent families. Mental disorders occur in higher rates of children from single parent homes, or in children of broken homes.

As a 46 year old man, who was married for 22 years I have struggled dating women my own age after divorce. I have not had an issues making relationships, but maintaining them. Most women my age are divorced with younger children, or have a long history of of failed relationships.

My children are 25 and 18, so I struggle trying to get motivated getting involved with a woman in her 40s with children. I want to enjoy my freedom. I spent decades raising my children and I want to live unencumbered without the responsibilities that children demand.

Pathological Behaviors

That only leaves women of my age that have a life's history of failed relationships with no children. In the last 2 years I have had numerous relationships with these types of women and they all had one huge similarity. They were all victims of child hood trauma, children of single parents, or from broken homes. They all displayed signs of serious personality disorders. Pathologic behaviors beyond there ability to manage, control or even recognize in themselves. The patterns were all the same to varying degrees. Love bombing, Projection, Gaslighting, Blameshifting, Deflection, with grandiose expectations and unrealistic perceptions of their own behaviors or ability to set and maintain boundaries for themselves.

This is why they are single in their 40s and unable to maintain relationships. All the women that are from solid family back grounds that are emotionally stable and emotionally intelligent enough to maintain a intimate relationship, are either already in one or tied down with kids.

So men like me have to find solid women with a solid family back ground, with out kids, or history of child hood trauma. They are the ones that have not been snatched up yet, or turned bitter by a life time of failed relationships, but are seeking the security and emotional intimacy and maturity that old men can offer.

Thus is why older men seek younger women. They are more trusting and open to possibilities. They value what an emotionally stable man can offer, without being threatened by it. And they not yet completely damaged by a life's history of romantic failures.

I get where you're coming from, but for me the younger women aren't a lot better either. I actually seem to do better with women who are older than me, and the sex with them is more passionate.

However, I will say that the reason so many of these women with issues never heal and never get over them and keep failing with men is because they will not do any introspection. Women seem to think being emotional and crying to somebody about everything is therapy and healing, but that's really the tip of the iceberg. You have to put in actual work to improve your insides, your mind, your character, your whole self. And most times these milestones are going to be done on your own, and have to be.

But instead of tackling those issues with a resolve to overcome them and overcome their pasts and traumas, a lot of women would rather stay bitterly stuck in the past, forever blaming their parents or men in general because of the bad relationships they had, and never taking any personal responsibility for who they are and where they are now. So the cycle will just keep going like that.

I totally agree, if they can not take personal responsibility for their actions and then try to change those patterns of behaviors... then can cry to your therapist every week and pretend you are healing. The fact is that you are not unless you are actually making changes, beyond projecting your insecurities onto men, while claiming to be putting yourself forward.

Don’t a lot of personality disorders get worse as people age? That might have something to do with it because stable women in their 40s and older are usually in great long term relationships.
It would be instructive to compare dating app profiles of a sample of women of various ages. My guess is that the ones with kids make it clear you’ll come last.

Excellent point, they do say that mental disorders do not fully mature within someone until their late 30's to mid 40's. But actually, with therapy they say that as they get older they may develop healthier ways to deal with anxiety. But again, its a toss of the coin, but mental disorders are something that never go away completely. So, they can relapse at any given time.

Actually, people in general that have mental health issues are prone to seeking out two types of people... others with similar mental disorders, or confident, kind and overly generous types. These types of people come on at first as being highly functional... only over time do their true natures come out. So its extremely difficult to sort out who is who, went people with mental disorders go to great lengths to mask the signs and symptoms of their disorder... but eventually it becomes too difficult for them to maintain and their true nature comes out. Please remember that people prone to pathological conditions are usually highly functional individuals.

If they are younger and your looking to have a family you have longer to determine whether that's something you'd want with em before it gets to hard and there is just a better chance they'll have a successful birth.

Younger women like older guys and older guys like older women. So you might have a better chance at a relationship or whatever with a younger woman.

They probably aren't as experienced as their older counter parts so there is less chance of them having a lot of trauma and bad experiences. And are probably less jaded overall.

The age difference can sometimes be nice different perspective and their youthful energy might give the guy a boost because you are the company you keep.

Them being less experienced and less knowledgable can be nice in a way because it lets the guy feel useful because guys like feeling needed in that way, parting advice, wisdom, fixing stuff, etc.

That's the stuff I can think off of the top of my head.

Really there would be pretty much zero chance of an older guy wishing to see somebody his own age unless it revolved around $$$ basically , either gaining or not wishing to loose. Sadly the female body clock is not good for females at all , and pretty much all attraction comes back to reproduction , even if people claim otherwise , for if its not about reproduction , then its just about a financial friendship , that just makes no sense.

Basically guys going for younger women are following a natural instinct, because of some plain logic reasons:

- A young woman is fertile, and can normally bear children.
- A young woman is easier to manipulate. Yes, that's not to be proud of, but there it is. Just think of many countries where barely nubile girls are married, whether they consent or not.
- Most mature men are drawn to the beauty and elegance of youth, which does not mean that older women can't be beautiful and elegant, be it in another way.

This is a big part of it along with about 20 other reasons. All point to young women being the best. There is nothing better about an older woman except superficial and materialistic reasons in some cases... most don't even have these things going for them.

I’ll give you a theory. They look more attractive younger and the older they get, generally the more unattractive they get.

Yeah you missed piont of the post. I am not going debate that looks doing matter... but women are age are still very attractive. Sure there's a higher population of younger women, that average to slightly better than average that are younger and I guess better looking... but 49 plus women are still attractive. But if they are mental or tied down with kids their physical looks isn't enough.

Because they're shallow, sexist, judgmental, borderline creeps and view women as objects.. There are way too many prejudices about older women on this site: that they're unattractive, boring, that they've had too many partners/experience. Your post is full of generalizations.. As if all younger women are emotionally stable or fun to be around. Nah they're just easier to manipulate

At first I thought you were talking about the women being sexist, judgment and borderline... its funny how you accuse men of this as you are technically doing the exact thing. This post has nothing to do about physical looks or making women appear as objects, so you missed the point, which technically was the main point. You want to assume all these things of men, which is the easy because then women have to take no responsibility for themselves or their actions.

I am judging based on what you wrote here and your generalizations about all older women being boring, emotionally unstable, jaded and having lots of emotional baggage, which is sexist and ageist. It's also quite creepy wanting to date a girl young enough to be your daughter. None of the people I know in real life, approve of such age gaps and certainly if I had a daughter, I wouldn't be happy, if she wanted to date a man old enough to be her dad

I talked about my personal experience, sorry if you took that to mean all women, I did lay out specific criteria for types of women I was talking about.. and speacifically said women over 40 who have dated a lot and never married, or had kids, or the divorcee that still have younger children.

I never said all women, which is the part of the problem, I have experienced. They claim to be good listeners, but they do not listen, then claim I said things I did not say... when I was being very specific... but they want to talk in generalities based upon general assumptions of what they think I really meant... when I did not say that. Then when I try to talk in generalities they want to get super specific because they can contemplate what I am trying to say.

So you literally are doing what I am talking about.. establishing a pattern of behavior with in this conversation that eventually leads to failed communication.
