Good take. But I thought I was gonna learn something new. I posted a question awhile ago, one of them though tit's tolerable if the abuse doesn't cause death.
It's sad but it's true. Nobody should fear their partner.
I feel they stay because of learned helplessness. They feel there is no way out of their situation, no one to help them.
It may also be because they believe that this abusive person truly loves them and they'll have no one if they leave.
A true man will leave the girl if it starts becoming an abusive relationship.
Cuz she's flippin' stupei. The door is wide open and she can walk out anytime but instead, she got no brain to act on it so.. stay as long as u want until u get what chu want xP

I was in an abusive relationship for a long while. My family, friends, and myself were being threatened, and I was terrified for mine and their lives. When I finally got the courage to tell the police, guess what? Police didn't do anything. Things aren't always in black and white. I stayed in something miserable that hurt myself to protect people around me.

@Keyspirits Like I said, when I tried to leave, he threatened to harm my family and friends, the people closest to me. I did try to leave. I stayed out of fear he was going to hurt people I loved. When I told the police, they didn't protect me from him either. It's a lot more complex of a situation than just leaving sometimes.

Also, people don't want sympathy or anything like that. In nearly every case of abusive relationships, no-one who knows the victim has any idea, they just notice weird behavioural changes. It was always kept on the low because they feared for their safety or they're too ashamed of being so controlled when they realise that that's been happening. No-one would get into abusive relationships for sympathy and if they did, they'd learn what a huge mistake they'd made. I actually can't believe how ignorant people can be.
Actually sometimes a door is not wide open to walk away it might be locked and dead bolted and she could be chained up waiting for someone to care to look for her and set her free you insensitive cunt

I'm making a point that it's not that fucking simple and yes i am sensitive for myself and all women that have been in abusive relationships that are being victimized because if we didn't get threatened, beaten, shackled with guns to our heads to death threats to our families we would walk away freely.

Uh no. I went into the abusive relationship, a confident, outspoken and independent person. I came out a complete mess, an empty shell of myself. Most people are very strong minded and end up coming out mentally destroyed.
We will have ti agree to disagree then. Because if a strong minded person was ever abused, they would keave after the first time it happened. You think you were those things you listed above but in fact you weren't. Its ok. Not everyone is truly strong, but most people like to think they are. You obviously fall in the latter... I wasn't trying to copy anything. These are common reasons for staying in abusive relationships that can be found in many different articles online. You could also say that every myTake on here involves content that could be found elsewhere.
And also, just so we're clear, I'm a social work major learning about how to work with victims of domestic abuse so the majority of the content here were things I learned from professors, textbooks, and actual scientific journals on the issues of domestic abuse and abusive relationships. Not random websites online.

It's not a delusion, they often convince you they'll change and they make it appear that they've actually listened to you. They often admit to everything they've done wrong so it is like they know they're in the wrong and they're willing to turn tit around but it's all just a lie.
