Guys, I found strange panties in my boyfriend's room?

My boyfriend and I have been together for a few years now. He was on a guy's holiday last week so I decided to redecorate his bedroom for him with the permission of his parents (we both live with our parents). When I moved his bed away from his wall something fell down the side and when I pulled it out it was a pair of black pants. I won't go into the gross details but they had definitely been worn, I'm not sure how long ago.

Of course I confronted him when he got back, he told me they must have been his ex's but we have been together now for years, I am sure he would have found those pants by now?

It very well could have been there for years. I was once looking for something that I had misplaced. I couldn't find it for the life of me. I asked my girlfriend about it in a general sense and she denied having seen it. Three years later I found it in a shoe holder that hangs on the back of my bedroom door. It was a shoe holder that I used from time to time when picking out shoes but not every day. It was an item that could not be easily overlooked so I found it odd that it was there. However, I had been broken up with my gf and she hadn't (in theory anyway) been in my house for at least 18 months at the time that I found the item.

I have thought about that from time to time and I theorize that I misplaced it there but also realize there is a possibility that she stole it and came into my house when I wasn't there and put it back. Maybe she had it and then found it one day and did that. She had a key to my house so it wouldn't have been hard to do. I am 75/25 on it--I feel like there is maybe an 75% chance I just overlooked it for so long and a 25% chance that she put it there.

The point is that, if it was me who overlooked it then it was there in relatively plain site for a very long time.

Also, when I clean my house/bedroom sometimes I move furniture and clean under it to get the dust, etc. Even though it seems like I did it just a year ago or something it can sometimes be 2 or 3 years since it has been done.

I'd guess there is a high probability that they were left there for years. It isn't worth being accusatory over when you are not sure. Not fair to him or your relationship. However, if other things start to not add up then maybe you need to start doing some serious thinking about your relationship.

It is unlikely that he would have another woman in his bedroom at his parents' house but it would be too easy for you to learn about that. He probably would not want to put his parents in an awkward position. If you are sure that they can't possibly pre-date your relationship. . . one possibility is that he uses them for stimulation when he masturbates. They could have been saved from some prior relationship and he may even wash them periodically. This would be an embarrassing thing to admit to you but it is one possibility that saves him from the conclusion of being unfaithful.

Now, it is very convenient that you decided to redecorate his bedroom while he was gone. It sounds like a convenient excuse to go snooping. You may want to protest that statement but that would just be your reflexive move and it would not be convincing. Do you have some other reason to not trust him?

I have no reason other than this not to trust him. I wanted to redecorate it when he was gone because he has wanted to do it himself for a long time but has not had the money, I was trying to do something nice for him. If I thought he was cheating on me the last thing I would have done was paint his walls.

@asker you're thinking way too much. Do you think that this guy can cheat on you? I mean, he is trying to defend himself, that just means that he wants to be with you. He doesn't want to lose you. But also, that doesn't make him not guilty. So, you just have to have some faith in him. And if he is cheating on you, you will find out soon, i am sure. You will see his change in behavior and all but if you love him then don't doubt him now. :)

You asked him a question and he gave you an answer. Its basically up to you now to decide if you want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Nobody on here knows you or your boyfriend, therefore none of us are in the position to call him a liar. I'd keep an eye on him and look for any unusual change in behavior.

Thing to know about guys. We don't clean certain spaces a lot. Beds for instance. There are some things under there that I have been searching for for months, but I am too afraid to check at this point. Probably an octopus or something living down there now. Odds are they're just old. Besides, it would be really hard to sneak another girl in while his parents are there.

I think the fact that it fell out from the bed out of sight out of mind kinda fell out when you moved the bed that it has likely been there for years and was most likely his ex.

If you think he is a really good upstanding guy and has never given you any reason to doubt him before, then I think he is telling the truth.

Did he look really embarrassed when you confronted him... I know I would be sick with worry if it ever happened to me and it was totally an accident?
