Can a man be too independent for a relationship?

I ask this because I have a fierce independent streak in me. When I was younger I was always taught to take care of myself because other people won't. The only women I have ever depended on were my mother and aunt. Since I've been an adult I have always cooked for myself, cleaned after myself, worked, and my paid the bills on my own. I don't like dating or approaching women because I prefer doing things by myself. And women like to do stuff... expensive stuff lol. I have just gotten stuck in my ways and preferred doing things on my own. Have you felt too independent for a relationship?

Most women don't care about the expensive stuff. It's all about the little things like saying that she looks beautiful in the mornings even if her air is all matted. Or opening the doors for her, noticing when she got a hair cut. Those are the real things that matter. It is possible to be too independent for a relationship. Women like to feel needed. If she feels like it wouldn't make a difference if she was there or not that relationship probably won't last long. I understand why your mom raised you to independent and to take care of yourself, but it is okay to have someone by your side to encourage you, care for you, and love you. You might not want to rely on someone to pay your bills but you have to live life to the fullest. Everyone deserves to have a partner who loves them and receives love. Open yourself up to all the possibilities of having a great, loving relationship with someone. Try try again until you succeed. You won't regret it.

Yeah, a man can be too independent. A relationship is about partnership, working together, and a woman always wants to feel wanted in a relationship, like the man cares that she's there with him. If he doesn't want to do anything with her and he doesn't want to share any duties, then it's unlikely that the woman's going to be very happy.

It can make your partner feel like you don't trust her.

Example: (I read this somewhere), in this case, the girl was too independent. When they had a baby together, she would barely let him help her out. Like, changing diapers, feeding, changing clothes, etc.

This is why a lot of guys fear commitment - losing that freedom, that sense of pride in taking care of themselves.

Girls complain the guy has no time for them, since he has his own life figured out and can't always find time for her in his busy schedule.

(this works the other way around too, as I've found to my detriment)

Probably will make things more difficult that's for sure , Women like to be needed at times also, it is harder to be in a relationship when your set in your ways

yup. Same way for me. Relationships get complicated. I understand where you are coming from with chicks though. I'm independent too but do like to go to concerts, and theme parks, restaurants, etc by myself.

I don't want a relationship because I want someone to do things for me, I want a relationship because I like a certain man for whatever reason and I want a child of my own someday. I prefer being single at this time too though.
