How long does an unrequited love last?

I have unrequited feelings for a guy. He is definitely not compatible with me, doesn't seem interested in the same things, cold and indifferent towards everything, and doesn't really care for my feelings but I still like him. I try to ignore the feeling and it goes numb sometimes, but the love I feel for him always surges up again. How long do you think this feeling will last? What are your experiences?

I love my friend that I've known for 13 years for 5 years. And "loved" my crush in 9th grade for only 1. It depends on how long you've know them and how deep the love is.

It depends how strong they are and how often I see the person, etc. you can't really control them though, they just go away with time.
