Is 2 hours too far?

The guy I've been seeing, though not officially dating, for about nine months says that 'it just wouldn't be enjoyable to drive two hours to only see me on the weekends, and that it's too far to come see me for the night.' We text everyday? And he says that he cares, thinks about me a lot, and likes me a lot. But it isn't like I ask him to see me every weekend? I currently don't have a car (college student who utilizes the busing system).

I'd like to see him at least once a month. I've had a guy in the past, just for the second date, drive an hour to see me after a 24 hour shift (EMT) on a 3 hour nap without me knowing. And he never complained and always had a smile for me. I really care about the guy I'm seeing now but we've barely progressed towards a relationship. Am I expecting too much for him to drive two hours once a month?

It would depend if it's two hours of driving on an interstate or an hour and a half of fighting traffic and the rest driving back country roads. If you are providing him a place to stay (and more) for the weekend, then I really don't see a problem with it. I was dating a 24 year old a few years ago who lived about an hour away, but that was driving on congested roads to be together for 3-4 hours then driving back home. And it could only be on a weekday, so that interfered with too many aspects of my life, so I broke it off. It it were on for the entire weekend, once or twice a month, I could easily do that. And I'm hopeful of getting together with someone who lives 8 hours away, but I have a place to stay elsewhere when I'm there, plus I can stay for 3-4 weeks at a time as I also have a remote office there.

Everybody has different ideas of what's "too far" to drive... I'm the kind of person who loves driving, and long drives don't phase me one bit. I've got friends that complain about having to drive 30 minutes for something. Then again I've got other friends who's idea of a quick, spur of the moment road trip to look at a car that's for sale, is an 8 hour drive from Boston to Pennsylvania overnight, then turn around and drive back another 8 hours just in time to make it to work.

It doesn't sound like this current guy is all that in to you if a 2 hour drive on the weekends is too much for him. It might just not be the right fit right now. I'm sure there are other guys who wouldn't mind at all.

That's nothing. I really liked a guy and he was 2 hours away from me too, wouldn't give a damn to go there only to see him once a week.

Sorry to tell you, but he's not too interested :/ if he would, he wouldn't care about 2 hours.

I mean... I'd travel to another continent if I'm really into that person.

honestly no you want someone who is closer to you... I don't think two hours is very far though.

I see my fiancee every 6 to 8 months... we're 16 hours apart (1000 miles). He should be glad it's only 2.
