How do most relationships start?

Of course, relationships start between 2 people who have feelings for each other. No one's disputing that. But, it's hard to believe that both those people liked each other from the moment they met. From the experience of people that I know, it's often been a case where 2 people meet, ONE of them likes the other person and instigates it. The other person will then either A. develop feelings for that person as their friendship grows or B. find out that the person likes them, decide that they don't feel that way towards them, but then somewhere down the line they change their mind and start to have feelings for that person and end up in a relationship.

It just doesn't seem tangible to me that everyone who's in a relationship had feelings for their current partner from the first moment that they met. in my opinion, all that stuff about "the one" or the concept that there's someone out there who is meant for you is all small talk. If you don't chase what you want, or instigate it, you won't get it. Life isn't going to randomly throw you your significant other - you have to work for it yourself. The concept of 2 people being perfectly made for each other only really applies in films, life doesn't work like that, things don't fall in place for you like that. At least that's what I believe.

Yes, I think many people are not with the woman or man of their dreams. Especially men, who have zero power in sexual selection, almost always have to settle for someone who isn't their ideal partner.

The thing is people tell themselves, with help - in the the woman's case - of that evil Oxytocin, that their current partner is great. Their chemicals reinforce that notion, for a limited time at least (typically about 18 months to 2 years), and thereafter theyre too scared to be single, or have just set in the routine and continue to conform.

For this and many other reasons, I dont believe in monogamy. It simply isn't the natural way - especially if you think of what our forefathers the bonobos, are doing right now!

Women will settle for a guy who has money. The rest, she and her reptile brain will convince herself of.

Males have a harder time, and studies show they generally settle just to maintain sexual access with someone.

And as women become increasingly anti-sexual and conservative - thus meaning males are less likely to choose to re-enter the mating market, mismatched and unfullfilled couples are only going to become more common.

I don't believe there is such a thing as the one or true love.

It's more than possible peole find each other attractive and then instantly start flirting with each other. That's kind of how tinder works. Steps; are they visually appealing to me, do I find there personally attractive, does our conversion go well? If you answer yes to all these questions then start the dating process.

The pursuiting thing normally happens when attraction needs to build over time. Flirting is a mix of letting them know your interested, available, and why they should give you a chance.

I disagree with you a bit.
There is a thing called attraction which is also a feeling. And it is a fact that you can instantly be attracted to someone and therefore have "feelings" for them at first sight. Problem is most people confuse this attraction with true love and attraction is the thing that makes you want to have a relationship with that person. Everything that comes after that develops over time.
